Question about making a payment while transaction is pending

I have Discover card.

I purchased something today, the transactions is pending (and may take 3 days to clear)

Statement closes in 3 days

I want to make a payment before the statement closes so that card utilization will not exceed certain limit (it exceeds because of this transaction).

Can I make the payment while the transaction is pending?

If a transaction is cleared after the statement closes. will it appear on the next statement, even if I purchased the item before it closed?

If the Discover website won't allow you to make a payment, you can always "push" a payment from your bank. As far as the transaction, yes, if it clears after statement close it'll become a part of the next billing cycle. It doesn't matter when you swiped/purchased.

Yes, you can make the payment and it will balance itself out once the transactions post.
