You can call and have them send you a replacement cc to reflect 1999. Just tell them you want your cc to match your member date.

Re: Question for those who got AMEX Optima card

Woo hoo!  *does The Robot*       I have worked so hard to get my credit cleaned up and I had to climb a mountain to even get this Optima (huge shout out to their Exec Office team!) and felt good to pay it off my old balance in one lump sum and re-establish a relationship with them.  Then I thought uh-oh, Ive just done more harm by a fresh account popping up on CR 6 months before applying for mortgage and the affect on my AAoA.   Thanks for the re-assurance and positive words everyone!

AMEX Green charge NPSL | NFCU Cashrewards Visa Sig $25,000 | NFCU Navcheck $15,000 | AMEX Everyday $15,000 | Discover IT $19,000 | Amex BCP $18,000 | Cap1 Quicksilver $5000 | Firestone $2,400 I Amex Oasis Optima (recovery card) $500 (closed July 2014)
MyFICO: TU 780, EQ 785 EX 776 Discover TU FICO 780. Rebuilt from 500's....closed on home May 2015!

Re: Question for those who got AMEX Optima card

Eddie84,

Do you know what your EX score was when you were approved for the Green card?

I've had the Oasis card w/ $500 limit for about 2 years now but my score was in the gutter until the last few months. A month ago, I applied for a Delta Gold and was declined w/ a 653 EX score (soft pull). I'm debating whether to apply for any other cards before I graduate from the Oasis program. Any thoughts about this?

My AAOA = 5.5 yrs, 10.5 yr oldest acct. Several major late payments from just under 2 year ago when my student loans came out of deferment. 1 utility collection from just over 3 years ago (paid but not updated yet - supposedly it will be deleted). Also a $5K CO and $10K CO & CA for installment loans that are > 6 years old. Oh, and 1 more CA that should fall off in the next 2 months.

Sorry for late reply but mine was all in the 700's across all three (720 - 780) when I got approved for Amex green.  Also I was told by Amex CSR that Optima card isn't qualified for any CLI for at least 3 years.

Re: Question for those who got AMEX Optima card

Thanks for your reply, Eddie.

That's the first I've heard of the Optima/Oasis card being eligible for a CLI and I'm glad to have the opportunity to rebuild my relationship with Amex but I expect that I will have graduated the program before I reach the 3 year point (knock on wood).

I'm at the point now where I'm having a tough time deciding my next move or, at least, following through with it. I would like to buy a house about 12 months from now so I need to be somewhat strategic with how and when I move forward to maximize my CL's and be done with app'ing and CLI requests about 6 months from now. I would appreciate any input that you, or anyone else, can give.

Like I said my EX FICO from Amex was 653 a month ago and slightly higher now. I have 2 recently paid collections that will allegedly be deleted soon and 3 charge off's that will drop off in November. Let's say I'm borderline prime now (I'm an optimist) but I think by the end of November I might be close to 700. After November the negs left on my report will be the following:

 - 1 unpaid charge off that is 6.5 years old (installment loan)

 - 7 major derog's (>90 day late) from 2007 when consolidated undergrad loan came out of deferment. I got back in good standing and the loan was sold 2 years later.

 - 12 to 14 major derog's (>90 day late) from 2011 when grad student loans came out of deferment. This one drives me crazy Man Mad I moved without updating my contact info. I am now in good standing.

 - 1 paid collection for $50. The CA was opened 3.5 years ago but was reported last month. It shows up in the positive account section of my EX report.

I think the smart move is to replace the Optima card with real Amex revolver before app'ing for another card - simply so I can get a higher initial CL with the 2nd card. Maybe I should even wait until after requesting the 61 day Amex CLI. Luckily, it looks like they will soft pull me for the Amex so I can just apply w/ Amex every 30 days and recon if declined. Is there a downside to this?

Alternately, I could app for a card geared for people with "average credit". However I am averse to these cards because I think my doodoo smells like roses. Funny considering how I was an irresponsible A-hole not too long ago.

This was kind of a rambling post but I would really appreciate any input/advice that anyone is willing to give. Thanks.

Re: Question for those who got AMEX Optima card

Cc's geared toward average credit is where your current profile matches best IMO. Most of your baddies will age off next year but the list is long for a 'good' credit profile. Have you tried GW letters for the SLs? Once the 2007 derogs age off, there are still twice as many from 2011.

TBH, a revolver now seems a stretch- others might chime in with differing opinions.

I have an Optima card with $500 CL.  It reports on all 3 (EX, EQ & TU).  After 3 months I was approved for their green card, got them to backdate both cards to 2001 when I first had an account with them.  Hope that helps.

Is your Optima an Oasis Optima?

Re: Question for those who got AMEX Optima card

The 7 derog's from 2007 are through Great Lakes. I am planning on trying to GW those. The more recent ones are with Direct Loan SVC. I've read a few times that they don't GW anything but I guess I have to try. Even through they had a bad address for me when the loans came out of deferment, it was my fault for not keeping on top of it. - but I still should try.
