Question on AMEX

I've been seeing a lot of folks getting a CLI on their Amex card when they recieved it. I'm debating on trying it but I don't know it my window of opportunity passed. I recieved the card. Charged it up to 650. SL is 1000. I did a PIF before the cut date. so it will be sitting at zero when the payment goes.
Did I miss the opportunity?

Re: Question on AMEX

Since your score is pretty low for amex (if your sig is accurate) and your SL as well, I'd give it 60 days just to establish history with them.

Re: Question on AMEX

Yes those are current. But it's also my lowest card. I have to put the 3k through it for my 30k bonus. Putting the 3k thro it isn't a problem. It's the purchase/PIF purchase PIF etc that stinks. I have to wait about a week from a purchase to PIF by the time the payment posts. But I have to be factor in the Cut date too.
I just want to swip it for 3k PIF and call it a day. Lol. I fly atleast 3 times a year. So the miles will be nice.

It's a SP...you have nothing to lose by trying the 3x increase.

Thanks

Ill try it when the payment posts. I just didnt know how it will affect furure CLI's also..i seen the 61days and 6 months. Im guessing if approved it will be 6mo from that date if not, i'll still have a shot at the 61 hopefully.

That's not quite how it works.  Forget the whole 61 days thing.  It does not exist any longer and has no bearing on anything related to getting a CLI from them.  From the time you get your card and activtae it, you can ask for a CLI.  If approved, you have to wait 180 days to try again.  If decined, you have to wait 90 days to try again.  You don't get another try at 61 days because as I said, it doesn't exist ny longer.  If you attempt another CLI prior to 90 days after being declined, they won't even review your application as it's an automatic denial.  While it wont affect your ability to get one at 90 days, it's a waste of time.

Got yea. Makes sense. I may then just wait a few months then. Its probably my best overall chance. Cards i have will age, payments will be made, ill put alot through it because im sure they will look at the size of my payments. Or atleast hope they would. Lol. I just dont want to push the envelope of putting 950 on it 3 times. The first 950 may scare them.
