In the past, I recall this was possible.
However, as things have changed, I'm not sure if it's still the case. I received a 70K Marriott signing bonus offer, but am currently enrolled in the Ritz portion of the program, along with having the JPM Ritz card.
So, if I apply for the Marriott 70k:
1) Will the points post in my Ritz account?
2) Ritz will change into Marriott rewardss?
3) Can I keep both Marriott and JPM Ritz simultaneously?
4) When I cancel the Marriott (which I will before the fee is due), can I easily change my rewards program back to the Ritz one?
Would appreciate if anyone has insights on the above.
Thanks!
I think that you can only be a member of one program at a time, either Ritz or Marriott. You can switch which one you are a member of without an issue, but only one at a time. Not too sure about the rest.

Hi Open,
To answer your questions one at a time:
1) Will the points post in my Ritz account?
Yes, the 70k will post into your Ritz account. Your member number is the same for both Ritz Rewards and Marriott Rewards. You can only be a member of one program at a time, but can change at will. If you swap between the two programs, your membership number doesn't change.
2) Ritz will change into Marriott rewardss?
No, it should only change if you tell them to. This would involve contacting a CSR via phone, secure message, etc. I was originally a member of Marriott Rewards from years ago, and when I got the Ritz card my account stayed as Marriott Rewards. I had to ask to be changed to Ritz Rewards manually, so the change doesn't seem to be automatic.
3) Can I keep both Marriott and JPM Ritz simultaneously?
You can keep both cards and the earnings from both will channel into one account. You need to choose which account type you have (Ritz Rewards or Marriott Rewards).
In practice, there isn't much difference other than the quarterly promos you get targeted for. Ritz Rewards is slightly superior in that you can signup for both Ritz promos (usually offered once a year around summer) and Marriott promos. Marriott rewards accounts can only sign up for Marriott quarterly promos.
4) When I cancel the Marriott (which I will before the fee is due), can I easily change my rewards program back to the Ritz one?
Just contact customer service anytime you want to switch. If Ritz is your preferred program, just stick with it. You don't need to change to Marriott Rewards when you get the Marriott card.
Thanks, CS.
If that's the case, I'll stick with the Ritz. I recall we had a similar thread on this very thing a few months ago, but couldn't recall the specifics. If memory serves, was there an instance where having either the Ritz or Marriott first excluded one from being eligible for the sign up bonus on the other?

There is. According to the T&Cs on each card:
If you get the Ritz card first, you're still eligible for the signup bonus on the Marriott card.
However if you get the Marriott card first, you're not eligible for the signup bonus of the Ritz card.
Were you considering pulling the trigger sometime soon? I know you were thinking about it sometime last year.
I have both cards as well.as I get a free stay once a year with marriot

I recall last year, you provided me a link for the 70k sign-up bonus. But, when I clicked on the apply section, the screen didn't allow me to apply, for whatever reason.
Recently, they sent a targetted offer to my office address with an invitation code for 70K. Our office has a rewards program with the Marriott under a different number, but the invite is addressed to me. When I click apply, it prefills my name and office address, but since the programs are the same, I assume entering my personal Ritz rewards number would work for the bonus deposit.
Just wanted to make sure I was still eligible, since i had gotten the Ritz bonus. The offer expires on 28 Feb, so I'll likely app for it by then. 70K is a nice little bonus, especially considering how quickly one can use up points at these hotels.

Marriott points do go quite quickly, especially if you use them for 5 night stays (which is where the best value is).
This link should work for 70k: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/marriottpremier/70p1kshphdm/?CELL=6J04
I just tested it, and both the landing page and application page are active.

Yep, this one works. Thanks!
This way, if I should go past my offer expiring on the 28th, I can always app through this one.
PS - The app on your link is better, since the spend is only $1,000, whereas it's $3,000 on mine.
