Since we no longer can request CLi via the website for any of the GE cards I have a question for those of you have have experienced an actual CLI when calling. I just called on my Care Credit account which currently has a CL of $1k and a $0 balance. I have had the card for over 6 months so figured I would try it out. It did ask for the last of my social along with how much I would need so I said what the heck asked for total $2k so only asking for a $1k CLI. It right away told me although we were unable to approve you for the requested amount we might be able to if we pull a current CR... I automatically said NO and thought I would come back and ask all of you.
So when you guys have asked for a CLI and it has approved you what is the process? How about when they counter offer a different amount? I just wanted to make sure I know for any of my other cards I have. I am assuming that even for the counter you guys normally do not hear to have them pull a current report? Or am I wrong? Let me know, thanks!
My recent experience was with my JCP card. They denied the CLI I asked for and countered with a higher CLI. Very odd. Didn't ask or mention a credit pull and no inquiry ever showed up.
My DH received an increase on his Amazon card in Jan. He had asked for a $500 cli and they automatically countered with a lower $200 cli. We haven't received the message they might need to pull a report.
When I got my ON CLI by phone, it did NOT ask for my SSN. It asked for my acct. number. It *may* have asked for the last 4 of SSN, I don't recall. But definitely NOT the entire SSN. It asked me how much I needed for my upcoming purchase, so I said, "2k." It came back and said, "We cannot approve that, but we can offer you $1500. Do you want it?" Of course, I said, "yes."
It's possible that Care Credit works differently than the store cards. If it's asking for permission to pull your CR, I would assume that it's going to be a HP. I don't think it would ask your permission for a SP.
CareCredit did this to me also, but I have not heard of that happening on the other GE cards, but I can update next month maybe!

I think CareCredit is a little bit different than the other GE cards... I've never had a cli from them but get one every four months from all my retail cards.

Almost all GE accounts are SP CLI's except CareCredit for some reason. All of my CLI's were counteroffers and SP's (Walmart, JCP, ON)
