So my wife made me an authorized user on her BOA card that's she's had since 2006 in order to help my AAOA. Well I find out her mom is also an authorized user, and likes to charge and carry a balance. I'd rather take a hit on my AAOA than my utilization.
My question is: I've barely been an AU long enough for it to be reported on my credit reports. If I remove myself as an AU, will it still report for the usual 10 years after removal, or will it come off my reports right away? And if it does stay, will the utilization affect me since the account is still open, or will it simply report as a closed tradeline on my end?
If you remove yourself from the account, it will stop updating. If you remove yourself from your CR's by disputing the account as not yours, the TL will be removed entirely.
I actually had a somewhat similar situation. My grandmother transferred combined balances of about $3500 across the two PNC cards, and Fidelity card in my signature and I was added as an AU to the Chase Slate card.
This dinged my score by little bit, and decided its better im not on the account and make the previous debt "disappear" on my reports. When I removed myself as an AU, Chase did not take it off my reports but they stopped updating it.
I sent a secure message asking it be removed entirely and was replied with a form that I was asked to mail in. It included all the basic info - account number, my address, my SSN, etc, and ending with my statement to removed this from my CR's. They did so without question. Fast, too
Still need to update my signature.

Thanks for the replies.
So what you're both saying is that I can remove myself easily, however, the balance owed will never update, and will stay on for 10 years, unless I dispute the information or write the creditor asking for them to cease reporting?
I think I get it now, thanks!
