Questions for CABELA'S cc peeps....

Im already looking at my list of CC's to pair down over the next two years to get myself set up and in a better position for something better.  My SL was $1k, and was even surprised I got approved for it to begin with. Per their policy, you have to have the card for 6 months before you can be considered for a CLI via either auto quarterly, or by asking. If you ask its a HP.

The first time my card will be eligible for an auto will be in January during their reviews. (my card will be 6 mo end of November, and I would have missed the reviews in October due to that). Im NOT willing to take a HP over the next two years for a CLI on my card. Im trying very hard to garden, and so far doing well with that. I also know that auto reviews dont mean that Ill get a cli either. Im just trying to see how fast this card could potentially grow over the next two years WITHOUT taking a HP to get that way.

ok, so the questions are...

1)  What was your SL, and what was it a year later....or now?

2)  Did you receive auto CLI's, and if so, what were the typical increases like?

Thanks for any input, this will help me make a decision about keeping this card later down the road, since for the next 2 years, Ill only be able to rely on hopefully a few auto CLI's along the way. I might also consider after the 2 yrs of gardening to take a HP for a CLI at that time as well.

Re: Questions for CABELA'S cc peeps....

SL = $3000, 6 months later asked for a CLI and was approved for $5000 w/a HP, at the one year point they replaced my card with a Signature version and at 18 months they bumped my CL to $6500 without me requesting a CLI.

I only run about $1000 through the card per year, which will change because they are opening a store near me in the next 12 months (damn the bad luck).

Re: Questions for CABELA'S cc peeps....

Before I closed it, Mine had grown to $24,000 from starting limit of $14,000. I'd requested a CLI via HP to $20,000 to put a rifle on it and did not want to max it out. ($13,000 purchase price) Got auto CLI to $24,000 as I paid the balance down over a year.

so it took you awhile to get an auto from them. I only run about $50-$100 per month thru the card, roughly 10% of my limit. I feel that appropriate for now, when Ive got 4 others CC with WAY higher limits.  Just trying to get a feel for possible auto's along the way.  Thank you!!Smiley Happy

$13k for a rifle?????? LORD!! lol..., well, you had a nice SL to begin with, and putting $13k on the card, im not surprised you got a $4k auto.  Thank you! Im hoping that I get enough auto's (hoping, I know its NOT a given) that maybe my card will be at $5k in 2 yrs.

I was approved for a 3K limit. At the 6 month mark I got a auto cli to 4K and upgraded to a Signature Visa. I had only used the card once for less than $50.

Re: Questions for CABELA'S cc peeps....

Pizza, my Cabela card is newer, as yours is, but will still be happy to share data:

SL of $4,000 as a Visa SIgnature (yay!)

Only a month old but putting through some use in hopes of getting the auto cli's a few have mentioned they were lucky enough to get!

Cabela's Customer Service has been amazing and helpful with two different questions and a travel alert I needed to put on the card. They're great!

They described themselves as conservative so that's kind of how I'm handling my account-  small charges, pay it off, small charges, pay it off.

We'll see what the result it. Smiley Happy

usually I will pay it the same day the charge is incurred - like the flexibility they offer of being able to do that
