Questions on Amex application process

I applied for a Amex bce today and was denied. I currently have a gold charge card. Can I apply for more cards with only one hard credit pull.? Can I recon with Amex?

Re: Questions on Amex application process

I'd certainly call the backdoor number and find out the specifics of the rejection. You can usually recon and ask them if there's another product you can apply for, so you don't waste the pull.

Re: Questions on Amex application process

Since you are already a card member there won't be a HP with a declined application. HP's only occur with approvals for current members.

CSRs are generally misinformed about credit topics, and not just at AMEX.   It should only be a soft pull.   I app every month for a revolver with AMEX and it is always a soft pull for me when I'm declined.

Since you have been declined with this app you must wait 30 days before you can enter another application.   If you re~apply now it will automatically be cancelled by the system.

Why oh why? Smiley Happy  You know they judge their decision on the SP's they regularly do on your CR and the timeline on those is something like every 60 days I think (someone posted it here a few weeks ago, I should find that thread as it was useful information)... every other application you make is just dead air from an Amex perspective, but it's going to be on their record they have of you.  Not worth it imo.

Edit: I've repeatedly stated that the population here is three standard deviations outside the norm, this is an example of that... the overwhelming near total population of Amex customers absolutely don't do this.  Lenders don't like outliers, I don't think you're doing yourself any favors on this in betting that Amex's algorithms aren't factoring this in their internal decision making on current customer approvals.
