Hi, Sorry for asking all these questionsFirst, I applied for a Hooters Card.. They sent me something in the mail requesting verification of residence and social security number and that if I don't respond within 10 days, they will disregard my application. This was sent Nov 26, and I didn't receive my mail until today. They are closed on weekends. Is it too late now? Or should I still fax in my info to them..? And is there anything that they can do, I def don't want to apply again and lose points on my score! But I also wanted my card!Second, I received an offer in the mail for an Alumni card fm the University I graduated from. It is a Bank of America credit card. Are they more lenient in extending credit since I was a former student? I do not want to apply if I get denied.. My credit isn't great (570-590). I tried the pre-approval web site for B of A previously and did not receive any offers (but then again, I chose to opt out fm offers).Third. I am trying desperately to raise my credit score. I have ALOT and I mean alot of credit cards and store cards. Alot of them are old accounts, approx 8 yrs. I know that I should not close any for fear of lowering my score, but how would be the best way to do this? I know its also hurting my score to keep so many tradelines open. Also, within the next few months most of them will be PIF.
Fax the info today if you have the ability. As far as your chances with BofA being better being a former student, that may get you somewhere however with your score I wouldn't risk the inquiry. 8 yrs is not that old for a credit card. You say you have ALOT of credit cards. What's your creditm anagement on these cards look llike. Are they highly utilized? Do you have late pays? Do any have fees or not suit your need to the point that they are not worth keeping?
