Your card is clearly bucketed. You can keep trying to PC/upgrade it, but it may never happen. As others have said, close it. It'll continue to report for up to 10 years. Plus, if you have a 35 year old card that's older than this one, then you DEFINITELY have nothing to worry about. ![]()

My oldest card is a Discover card opened in November 1986. During my financial mess after a critical car accident in 2009, I defaulted on five Chase cards ($21K) and one Barclays ($8K). I did not file for bankruptcy and neither bank sued me. I struggled to keep Discover, Amex, and WellsFargo current during that time. All three dramatically reduced my credit limits but left the cards open. I started to rebuild with a CapOne Platinum which I upgraded years ago to QuickSilver One. I seem to be forever stuck with CapOne, possibly because I've been bucketted there. Discover, Amex, and WellsFargo have gradually increased credit limits to close to the levels I had before. But CapOne has been very very slow over the past 12 years. I now understand that my 12 year history with CapOne will not disappear if I close the bucket card. Thanks for that information.
@fleetfoot, as you've found out, it's difficult to PC Capital One cards with fees. When we've seen successful PCs from QuicksilverOnes, people report that they've been using the card regularly.
I was able to upgrade two QS1s after 12 or 13 consecutive months of usage. One charge and payment per month was fine.
While it's not guaranteed, my suggestion would be to charge something each and every month and make a payment each and every month. If you'd like, you can pay off that charge as soon as it posts.

Because of your efforts, closing this card won't noticeably change your scores. Thanks for your comment about my rebuild.
I don't fully understand how closing this card will not change my scores. My oldest card is 35 yrs. which I have deliberately left open even though I have other more rewarding cards. The QuickSilver One is the next oldest at 12 yrs.
I finally just bit the bullet on my QS One and just closed it. It was my second oldest card and had no effect on my credit score bc I didn't carry a balance on it plus I waited until I opened a new card so they would report at same time and my utilization still went down.
Oh and I tried the "product change or I'll cancel the card" bit and their reply was "Okay so you want to cancel the card. Once we do this the account cannot be reopened. Would you like to proceed?" 😑

That's an interesting strategy. I think I may open a new card when closing the QS1 so they report at the same time. I'm going to put off any action until the refi on our mortgage finalizes over the next few weeks.

Just an FYI from my memory cap one reports closed accounts pretty quick. I just tried my best to time it together. I got within a few days.
Keep new account ding in mind. Depending on your aggregate limits QS One may be a small portion so it will not change your utilization bracket.

Back in 2015 I reached out to the EO and they called me and put in a manual request to move it from a QSONE with the annual fee to a regular QS no annual fee and they did it. This was 2015 so things may have changed but I know my initial contact to them about it was an email to the EO which I found the email by googling. Good luck OP

Indeed things have changed. The EO is no more. If you try calling the old EO number, it just gets forwarded to regular CS. The email I believe was also disabled.

The annual fee just posted overnight $49. I will call on Monday morning to request a product change. When they say "no," I'll request an annual fee waiver. I'll keep you posted. Thanks to everyone for suggestions.
I called Capital One Customer Service and requested an upgrade to a card without an annual fee. I was told no upgrades were available to me at this time. I then asked for a waiver of the annual fee which was denied, even after I reminded them that they had waived the fee the past two years.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to who I may contact at Capital One about an upgrade from my QuickSilver One card? The account is 11 years old with perfect payment history. My current ExpFICO8 is 772 with my highest credit limit for a non-Capital One credit card at $12,400. My annual income is near $150K.
I can't understand why they are unable to upgrade this account.
