Quicksilver One PC to Venture One

Looking for some advice, thoughts or guidance. Checked the product upgrade page, and have an offer to upgrade my QS1 to a V1. QS1 currently has a 3k limit. Got approved for it after 6 months with my secured platinum. So heres what Im thinking; Is there a chance my QS1 is bucketed at 3k? Ive done some reading and it seems like its hard to PC out of a QS1 to anything else. Could upgrading to the V1 eventually lead to a better upgrade?

For starters the V1 has no AF, i dont really mind giving up the 1.5%cb on the QS1. Im mainly interested in the potential for the V1 to eventually have a higher limit than the QS1 or, the potential to go V1 -> V or QS as QS1 -> QS doesnt seem as common.

(Incidentally, my wife has a 300$ platinum she got at the beggining of her rebuild, which is eligible to upgrade to a QS, so go figure)

Thanks in advance!

Re: Quicksilver One PC to Venture One

From my recollection, most people here get a better SL with Capital One by applying for a new card. Of course, that requires 3HP's.

As you are trying to stay with Capital One. have you tried their pre-Qual page?

I'd take the PC to the V1. After that, wait it out 181 days and you can PC it to a standard QS most likely. Even if it doesn't give you huge growth at least you've done away with the AF at that point.

I would tend to agree. If you are seeing a product change option, do it because that annual fee on the QS1 is rotten. I'm stuck on a Platinum MC with an annual fee from 18 years ago ($5/month) and a $39 QS1 annual fee now that was product changed last year from another Platinum Visa with annual fee from about 16 years ago. I have seen no PC options since and have called numerous times to ask.

I have QS (formerly Platinum) and QS1. I just found out that my QS1 has a 3 card options for an upgrade. QS, Venture one and Venture. Just to get rid of AF i chose Venture one.

That's good news! What sort of credit line did your QS1 have? I'm wondering if you can only upgrade to a Venture (for example) if you have a certain credit line. My Platinum has a $12.5 CL but the QS1 is only $850. That gives me hope that I might get an upgrade on the Platinum and maybe even QS1 eventually.

4 days ago my QS1 was Auto CLI from 2k to 5k. 3 days after upon checking my upgrade offer if there's any, and yes, there was. I chose venture one to avoid AF. And my credit score is Excellent. All along, I think the auto CLI was part of cap 1 plan for my account to receive an upgrade offer on their venture cards. I read somewhere, venture cards min CL is 5k.

What I did was I called cap 1 cs. I asked if i can upgrade my platinum to qs and my qs1 to venture one card. i also told cs that I am thinking of closing my platinum and qs1. The cs told me that there was no current offer for my account. However, few days after the inquiry, offer poured in. Upgrade offer for platinum ( I upgraded my Plat to QS and again, few days after, another upgrade offer for Qs1 (I upgraded it to venture one)..
hope this technic can help.

The answer is "yes". Several years ago, I followed the same upgrade path you've been offered. I upgraded my QS1 to the Venture One, and later upgraded the Venture One to the Venture card. Over the years, my SL has grown slowly with the occasional CLI. Good luck!
