I just called to upgrade my platinum MC to a Quicksilver. I was told on the phone "congrats we can upgrade you to the Quicksilver card, it has no embossed numbers, its silver and has a polymer coating that makes it fade proof and virtually crack proof". I was pretty excited to hear this, and specifically asked if it was the QS or QS1, she put me on hold for a min came back and said it was the QS Visa. I told her good since I have a QS1 MC already. After she read me the terms of the change etc, the phone disconnected. I was at work so I did a chat just to make sure things still processed. The chat rep told me I would be getting my QS1 in the mail in 7-10 days... I told him the story above and he said sorry for the inconvenience but I could only get a QS1. I have had nothing but bad luck with Cap1 and after 3+ years I've had enough. I closed the chat, transferred my Cap1 cards to my Discover with 0% for 12 months, and will be calling after work to close both Cap1 cards. The 3500 will hurt my util a bit but at this point its well worth it to have Cap1 out of my wallet!
My QS1 was PC'd from Platinum MC, and so I have no AF, but I'd like to change to QS since it's a higher tier and looks better (doesn't it?). I'm also hoping when I'm eligible for a PC (October) that I can get another 3x CLI at the same time, to make my CL $6,750, but I'm not so confident that they'd go for that again, even with a probable 725+ at that point!
Kind of a side question, if they did 3x me again to 6.75K, would that card automatically become a World Mastercard, or is that a seperate app/process?

I think you have to PC to the QS after a CLI that puts you over $5K to get you into a WMC.

Sorry to hear of your issues with Cap One. If I'm not having measured success in my plan by the time my AF is about to hit, I may actually dump the QS1. Right now, it's my only MC, so I would want to replace it with another MC before I consider closing it.

Thanks sunrise, they have just been tough to work with. Did you try the EO route for your AF at all? Should be able to get it waived for good (just tell them what you just posted). I just dont like being told one thing then having something else happen, its bad business in my opinion. I'm not worried though, my Discover and Barclay cards make me more than happy to spend my money with them...they will keep me happy until AMEX or Chase decide to let me in the front door

I had my AF waived through the EO this year, but didn't get it waived permanently. I'll try them again next year.
I recently upgrade my cap. one platinum to QS1 through the EO office. The lady i worked with her i told her specifically that my issue was the AF and that after 4+ years of being a customer I shouldn't have to pay it (i have had perfect payment history since my bk in 07). She said she could upgrade me to the QS1 with a permanent ban on AF, which is about the only difference between the QS1 and the QS. I accepted. If you can get same then i don't see a need to go to QS as both have same rewards and APR will depend on your credit. HTH.

While I understand your point, its just the principal to me. They told me I had an eligible upgrade to QS Visa, which I understand isnt the cheap fake looking card they call the QS1. I just feel like the QS1 is the generic QS, I dont see Sam Jackson promoting it "THIS IS THE QuickSilver One MOTHA F****rs!", so it feels cheap and low end, like I wasn't good enough for the QS. I've already had my AF's removed (they act like that was a big help from them) even though I've been with them for over 3 years (not to mention many many years before that probably 10+). My other cards just treat me better and reward me for being a customer, thats good customer service.
@SpaceInvader wrote:true In my situation i am not too picky as my scores aren't high enough yet to make demands nor have i gotten offer for QS.
Well it looks like your well on your way, 700 doesnt seem to be to far off for you! Good luck and make sure to demand something from Cap1
