LOL- I guess I was excluding the current circumstances from that statement, but I have no doubt that CapOne has the business intelligence to profit greatly no matter what the economic and social circumstances are.
Im pretty sure all these banks know how to profit off our misery.

My guess is if they're doing a premium travel card as a ++ on Venture, they wait until things are normal(ish) for travel. Maybe you get 1:1 transfer instead of 2/1.5 or 2/1, trip interruption insurance, toss in low level Accor or Wyndham status and a big SUB? Maybe it's a Visa Infinite card?

It will be interesting to see what they release if and when they do. CapOne isn't known for being in the premium space so any offering will need a ridiculous Chase-grade 100,000 point SUB to get my attention. I don't hate CapOne, I just think there are better premium options.
There are a lot of very pragmatic people in this thread telling certain truths, such as there being no real upgrade in rewards. You can choose to look at it strictly from a practical sense, but the fact that you're asking despite this information already being made available on Capital One's website leads me to believe that you may be considering the upgrade for other reasons.
The Venture One has made more than one list of cards identified for giving generous limits. While it's no CSP/CSR, it's also not a subprime product. Now, whether this is the same case for internal or external applicants has yet to be researched and quantified, but, It's a hell of a step up looking from the outside in as an external applicant, in terms of how hopeful one can be to get a substantial credit line.
A true product change doesn't initiate a soft pull. If they're turning a blind eye to your reports while offering an upgrade, I would assume this does not automatically come with a CLI.
*HOWEVER*
If you are planning on pushing Capital One for a CLI, then yes, for goodness sake do it while holding a Venture One, and not a Quicksilver. The product change is only a small part of positioning yourself in a favorable light to be considered for a generous CLI, this piece being largely vanity. The numbers side of things comes into play when you start grooming for a CLI and concentrate your spending on the new card to flag yourself as being intent on really flexing your credit line.
Being that it's not a new account is good, no INQ, no hit to AAoA. As long as you're aware that the PC itself won't net you anything, and that it will still likely take some concentrated spend to get them to pony up a CLI (we are talking about Capital One after all) I would be content knowing you're at least making an informed decision. Neither good nor bad, just exercising personal preference.
Thanks so much for this post. I just checked the upgrade link today and I qualified to upgrade my QS of 7 years to the Venture One as well. I have received no cli on this card during this time. I didn't accept the offer yet as I can not see the value in the card at this time. I need to do more research to weigh the benefits.
