Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One

You don't have to wait 6 months to do a PC. I PC'd my platinum to a quicksilver after 2 months.

If your Cap1 Platinum card is older than 6 months, call the EO and request a PC to a QuickSilver.  Your QS1 is also able to PC to a QS after 6 months.

This is true. but the Regular Qs must have a minimum of a 3K limit . as long as your limit is 3k. they will pc you to the regular no AF Quicksilver.

Maybe thats how it is today....but I have the regular QS Visa and my initial limit was only $1000 in December. Was supposed to be $500 higher from credit steps after 5 timely payments...after I made about 30 payments, I requested a cli myself, got another 2k, then still got the credit steps. It is great to see they arent limiting my card to $3k like they used to do for people.

Yes, If you started with Qs visa. you never had the QS1 that op is talking about. Which is a mastercard.

Even when you pc. it will remain a mastercard.

Example. Started QS1 $500 limit. -QS $3500 limit. No AF. - QS wmc. $5500 limit.

but if you started with Visa. there is nothing to pc to. except maybe a venture or

Venture one. but imo. The Quicksilver no AF is even better than the Venture. which is 2miles per dollar. But the Cash back out paces that. so i have both.

DW had a Platinum PC to a QS that only had a $750 cl.  She got on chat and requested a PC we were expecting QS1 but they told her she was eligible to get the QS with no AF.  And yes it's still a mastercard.

It seems the upgrade from a Platinum MC to a QuickSilver is pretty much a sure thing, however I have *both* a new QuickSilver Visa and an eight year old QuickSilver One MasterCard, and my quest to have the MC upgraded to a no-AF QuickSilver is ongoing.  I've even talked to someone at one of the EO numbers, and they were unable to help.  (I only want to keep it for my AAoA). This being said, others have done it with little trouble... basically YMMV.

There's a Helpful Threads sticky at the top of the Credit Cards forum section, with a link to a helpful "Common Abbreviations" page. PC simply means a product change, as in changing one credit card for another from the same issuer (e.g. BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards to BankAmericard Cash Rewards). Depending on the issuer, it can allow you to keep the same credit card number and history, but with the features of the new product (and sometimes without even having your credit hard pulled).

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One

My old Household became a Quicksilver some time ago, remained a MC. A CSR told me it was regular Quicksilver, but today a different CSR told me it was actually a Quicksilver One. I don't have an annual fee though, never had AF even with Household. I sent an email to EO, but I may have to call to settle it once and for all.

Re: Quicksilver vs Quicksilver One

I have two- a QS mastercard that was upgraded from a platinum. And i was approved for a QS VISA with a $500 cl. So not true that the minimum for a regular QS is 3000. I definitely have QS, not the one.
