I asked for a product change to a "regular quicksilver with no annual fee" I did not mention MC or Visa specifically. None of my other cards are 6 months. I intend to combine them later.

Hmmmm,

With Cap1 I ask if there are any offers available for me and let them figure out what I'm asking for. Seems like something else is going on with that one. They are quick to upgrade those accts on balance.

Chat or calling does not affect your scores so I might be tempted to make a call and talk to someone directly. Escalate it to a supervisors level even if necessary. I have some older negative history with them and they still treat me like gold.

Re: QuicksilverOne annual fee

Yeah, I have no idea why they won't convert it, since I already have a QS also.

Sometimes it just takes time...  you'll just have to decide for yourself how much time is acceptable.  In my own case, one of my oldest accounts was a QS1 MasterCard, and was repeatedly turned down for a PC... and the AF was $79.  They usually agreed to waive half of it, but that was the best I could do - for years. (My card will be nine years old this summer).

Finally just last week, I tried out of boredom just to see what would happen, and miraculously there was an offer available... so I finally got to PC.  The card number is staying the same, i.e. it's still a MasterCard, but it's being changed to a "Quicksilver" instead of QS1.  I was told to expect a new card in the usual 7-10 days.

Here's the thread where I gave the details:

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Capital-One-QS1-to-QS-PC-Finally/m-p/4460966

If the account is newer and you're not concerned about losing the history, or you just simply can't wait, your best bet might be to just app for a Quicksilver Visa, and if approved combine the AF card into it.  That was actually my plan had the PC not finally worked, but since the PC was sucessful I'm happy to be keeping the history.

I already have a QS Visa. But I can't combine for another 5 months, at which point, I will have already paid another annual fee on the QS-1.

That's a bummer, but I ran into that exact same problem last summer.  My QS Visa Signature was only four months old, so I couldn't combine, but that dang AF was due on the QS1.  In my case the CSR was able to waive half of it, making it $39.50 (still more than a new QS1 account) but I knew it would be my last one, so I held my nose and paid it one last time.

For me, it was worth it, but I won't try to persuade you either way.    Smiley Wink

Crap! I didn't know that. I've read somewhere that you can only have 1 QS. Why not just cancel the QS1 and not pay another AF. It will still report as a postitve TL for 10yrs after it's closed and will count in your AAoA. I see you have the Venture and you say you have a QS so just get rid of this one...

Are you sure about that? UncleB above seems to have 2 QS cards, a Visa, and a MC.

To be honest I'm at a loss! I can see having an MC and Visa versions of teh same cards but I think you can not have 2 of the same. Don't back me into a corner on this one I'm jsut rying to be helpful and encourage you to investigate it a little further. To get the real answer you need to ask Cap1.

All I'm trying to say is to contact them asn see what they say. Sometimes just getting another CS agent or talking directly with them will yield different results. And I'd love to hear what they have to say about this issue.

Just trying to be helpful.

Don't worry, I am not trying to trick you, and your info is helpful. I find that a lot of people start similar threads on here, some of which conflict with each other, and there really is no definitive collection of info. I'm just trying to make sure that we aren't making broad assumptions based on anecdotal evidence.

Great point and one I concur with. There is some misinformation on here and most of it is not intentional it's simply sloppy.

For instance many folks say the PC'd a Cap1 Plat to a QS1 and so many people take it as gospel when in fact it can't be done.

Believe you me, I am not here to lead anyone astray. I have been helped so much by these forums and all I want is to give back to others the same that I have received.
