Got an email earlier tonight:

"Important information about your account"

"Effective July 16, 2021 your Rakunen Cash Back Visa Signature Card will no longer provide:

Price Protection

All other card benefits will remain in place."

I received that email as well...funny thing is that I never realized it even offered price protection.

I applied a couple times for the Rakuten card expressly for the "Price Protection" benefit, which I recall being quite robust (especially in the wake of so many companies stripping the benefit elsewhere). I'm sorry to read this for all the cardholders but now I'm also glad the Japanese outfit turned me away.
