Re: Rate reduction

Just got one from credit one if you could believe that

called today about a cli and an annual fee waiver. CSR said no to both, so I said I was considering closing the account due to the annual fee.  She transferred me to an accounts manager who promptly waived the fee for six months and lowered the apr by five points for two years.
Told me to call back every six months and they'll do it again for me.

Re: Rate reduction

Having not received an email or other notification from NFCU, I called in and they advised me the rate reduction request was denied. The rep said they don't provide a reason why the reduction

request was denied, and I thanked the rep for the update.

Has anyone ever ask and gotten a rate reduction on their discover card? Or even Cap One?

I just recently asked Navy Fed to reduce my Apr on my cash rewards.  They gave me a reduction from 18% to 14.9%.

I asked Capital One for an APR reduction decades ago. They gave me one, then after I maxed out my credit line, they increased my APR. I was able to pay off the balance before the interest rate increase.

Credit Scores: (FICO 8) 844 Experian September 2025, 836 TransUnion September 2025

Re: Rate reduction

I did get a letter today from NFCU Underwriting, saying that they denied my rate reduction request. They said they evaluate multiple factors such as payment amounts, balance, etc. No HP, SP was done.

Truly no hard feelings towards NFCU, they have been good to deal with. I decided going forward to minimize use of the Cash Rewards card and will focus on a couple of other cards.

Re: Rate reduction

Just submitted a request to NFCU to see if im elegible for a rate reduction on my Flagship and More Rewards cards.  Didnt realize until after I sent the message that im already at 15.24% on the Flagship which is the lowest advertised rate.  Im at 18% on the More Rewards so will see if I can get it down to the lowest of 14.90%.

Has anyone done this with Amex or Elan (Fidelity Rewards Visa)  cards? We dont carry balances but figure its nice to get them lower anyway.
