Has anyone ever closed a card and then re-applied for it when time passed? I closed my Chase Slate before the 0% intro period was up. I only did it because I transferred all but $500 to my Amazon card(so I could take advantage of a BT offer) and didn't want the bureaus seeing my Slate went from $4500 down to $500. Just seemed like it screamed "CLD" or "downgrade". I really would've wanted to keep my Slate. I'd like the card in the future. How will this look to Chase? Will they offer the same promotional deal with someone who isn't "new" to the card?
Website says nothing about it being only for new card members.
People have done this a lot, for rewards, when it is referred to as churning. Issuers have started enacting stricter policies, and Chase is one these, where you will only receive a bonus one time for a particular card.
However, for slate, there often isn't a sign up bonus as such, more BT offers etc, and these they may allow

True. I do wonder how they feel when they see you close a card just to re-apply for it again. I would think a person was trying to circumvent the system in a way. Like trying to extend a promotional period for one card beyond the time allotted. Instead of 15months you get a combined 30months with no interest.

True but if the Fine print says nothing for only new members then they would have to offer it to you by law perhaps?
The only reason why people can get the signup bonuses for the CSP and Freedom twice is because if you had a mastercard version and then canceled those and got the visa ones they are considered 2 different products thus you never owned a "CSP" as far as they can tell for the bonuses

Oh so it's not unusual to apply for a card you've already opened and closed? For some reason I was thinking the mindset is, "Been there, done that one...on to the next/newest, baddest card".

Yes, you're correct. Well, I guess I shall be re-visiting my old stomping ground down the road when I really need that great BT card with a longer 0% promotional period.

Very common on the big bonus cards, such as CSP (no longer possible) and Citi AA Exec (and Citi are clamping down too). The mindset doesn't apply because people aren't interested in the card per se, just the bonus. ANd they want it as many times as they can!
