It had been about 2 years since I applied for a CLI on my Amex Delta Plat card. I currently have that card and the Amex Plat charge card. My current limit on my Delta card is 35K. I asked for a 15K increase online. I got the 7-10 day message. No counter offers or request for IV. Got the letter today. The reason for the denial was:
"The income you provided is insufficient relative to your overall debt obligations as reflected in our records or on your credit report."
"Your recent payments are too low relative to your requested total line and your debt obligations with American Express."
I do only put about 2K a month total between the two cards but I do PIF every month and have never taken advantage of the POT with the Plat card as I only consider it an advantage to Amex. Current EX score is 818.
So, I guess until I get a boost in income, I'll just be content with where the line is now.
Your scores are great, you only spend 2k out of a 35k limit why do you need more? Just curious is all..

I don't, but, as many will tell you here, its the thrill of the chase to see how high you can grow your limit and not poke the bear so hard that he turns around and swats you into last year.
So, I was very politely told by the bear to go away for now.
Lol. Good answer.. I'm afraid sometimes to even approach the bear.

Yeah, me too but sometimes I just get that itch...
So, its good and scratched for now.
If you don't mind sharing, what is your reported income?

I won't share my exact income but I will say that last year's income was 40K lower than prior years. Its the nature of my job. My income can fluctuate 40-50K from year to year based on the number of hours and where in the country I work.
