I guess I could do that but I hate calling in and talking to CC companies unless I absolutely have to. With that said Ill probably make a special exception for this one because they really should know how rediculous my situation was. I'll call in on Monday and let everyone know how it all went, I'll be mentioning this forum to them as well. Im sure they wont do anything because whats done is done and there really isnt much they can do about it now.

I look forward to hearing how it went because this is very disturbing.

1. They apparently conduct zero investigation (since it was obvious it was not your name).

2. They don't even bother to notify you about their decision to charge the amount back to your account.

3. They appear to be far too eager to side with the merchant.

You shouldn't have to be doing all this legwork to dispute a blantently obvious fraudulent charge.

Re: Really Discover?

Agreed. One time I purchase a cell phone and then returned it due to defects discover dispute (I even called the EO) can't do anything but say "sorry" just because that the merchant insists that they haven't received the return, where I actually had the proof of it.

Re: Really Discover?

So I finally had some free time on my hands and I was able to contact Discover and reach the EO on what happened to me. A total waste of time! Not only did they say that's their policy and it's normal for that to occur but they did it with such arrogance. He said that they try to their best to help but "they can only do so much". He said once they find proof then they usually will take out the funds and it's their normal procedure. I was pretty irritated by this point and said what proof?! A receipt signed by some random guy, whose signature doesn't even resemble mine in the least bit. We went back and forth for a couple of minutes and basically all I got from them was a sorry and "well you got your money back didn't you". Yes but not with any help from you!! What a joke

Re: Really Discover?

Reading this thread sort of makes me want to close out my Discover account. What's worse, I recently opened up one of their Cashback Checking accounts for the $50 bonus.

I always heard anecdotally that they had a pretty good reputation regarding disputes. Does anyone have any good experiences with them on this?

Re: Really Discover?

Thank you for sharing your story and keeping us updated throughout the entire process.

I've personally had some weird situations with them where I don't feel like they pay attention to any details once so ever,  I almost get the feel that their e-mails via secure message center are browsed by a program that search for key words and then prompts a general automated response. Absolutely no help from this company ever and I'm seriously considering moving this card OUT of my wallet and into the sock drawer indefinitely.

I'm almost afraid to issue a dispute over a charge as I know I'll be stuck doing all the work with zero bacling from Discover.

Theres always posts advancing how great their services are, but reading these actual reports solidly confirms my own experiences with their ARROGANCE. You sometimes have that sense that something just isn't right on their end and throws up a red flag. Although my experience differs in that it involves repeated vain attempts for a CLI, the Arrogance is something you just don't expect especially when the Majority of the experiences with your other Lenders are what you come to expect and not the reverse.

Sorry you have had to go thru all that. Smiley Sad

You think Discover sucks. Just because a few people here are complaining about Discover doesn't mean they are "Bad". Remember how many people complain more the say good things? How many people who do complain would do it on a forum about Credit scores , Loans, and Credit cards ? I have had nothing but great Customer Service with Discover and so has my mother.

Re: Really Discover?

So this is how their frog protection works huh?

Pretty shocking that they can't even do a proper investigation following a chargeback.
