I've spent some time lurking here in the forums and I wanted to throw out a few questions to everyone on here. I shredded my credit years back... I was young, dumb and full of piss and vinegar ... To make a long story short... three years ago my fico was around 520 area... I spent the past few years trying to rebuild. I entered credit consolidation with CCCS ( cccsatl.org ) and things have been going great.. Trust me, I have learned my lesson with irresponsibility and CC's .. I am now 36 and I have gained control of my finances at this point in my life. My Question is ... I have two more years until I am completely paid off, in full with CCCS. My Current Fico is 670 and I was wondering, should I take the chance with applying for new CC, or should I ride it out until my commitment with CCCS is complete ? I see a lot of recommendations for applying for AMEX Gold Sky miles Card... mainly I would like to get a functioning credit card and be able to show on my credit report that I have a "working" credit line that is being used and paid off monthly... Should I do this before my accounts with CCCS are paid in full and closed ? Any recommendations ?? I'm worried that applying for a CC will negatively affect my credit report, and all the positive things that have happened lately....
