Closed 3 cards within the last week or so and probably one more to come.
1) Citi Hilton - Due to going to Amex and have high overall exposure already with Amex and 4 revolvers so want to save slot if 5 is still max and more-so worried about my overall exposure with them. They were suppose to PC it, but card was under a year old thus making it go through back office and just didn't have the patience and figured would just close it.
2) Discover IT - Worthless 4.5k CL and awful apr and just wouldn't grow making it a worthless card. Was close to 18-19 months old. Discover is for some, just not for me. They offered me all kinds of offers, but with that CL's really none of the offers made sense as rather use CU cards with huge CL's and better terms if I was to ever do a BT, etc.
3) Ritz - Had card two years and CSR earns better.. With that said I might re-apply since eligable for bonus again when the 3 day promo comes around, just couldn't swallow another annual fee with nothing really being offered other then a cool card ![]()
Possibly on Chopping Block in near future:
Discover Miles - Awesome APR 11.x, but horrid CL once again I never learn with discover although card is only 6 months old
Barclay's AA red - Horrid APR and quite honestly only got for the miles. Won't be paying the AF again. Might hold off till it is close to a year as only 6 months old now
Possible Applications:
Uber card
CC .... can you not combine your Discovers? I know your disappointed with them, but my experience is different and not always rosey. I had issues getting approved, once I did, it was only for 1K and didn’t get any cli for 4 months. Then they opened the floodgates.
I dont think Im going to keep my Aviator either (mainly because American is my least favorite airline). I actually have vouchers from them due to poor cs. My apr was recently lowered but again, don’t really like flying American.
I have a few more that I will close or combine. PS....I need the name of that restaurant again 😂

Only way to be able to combine Discover cards is you GOTTA have a CLI available on the receiving card in this case it would of been the Miles card due to the good APR, but with Discover not being friendly with me to CLI's as you have seen in other posts there is nothing Discover CSRs can do. If you have even a 500 CLI available they can combine limits. I just got sick on them low balling me and playing their game as said in other threads as I am well into the 6 figure income and just got tired of being treated like I don't know how to manage credit, but we don't have to rehash all that again as you have seen it in the master Discover CLI thread. Discover either likes you are doesn't and I know they like you and understand why you like them, but believe you understand why I don't really care for them. In all fairness I think they know they won't be used much due to my huge CL's with other lenders. That is my theory at least of why they won't budge with me. Hope this explains how Discover combination of limits work I would of if I could of, but never was able to get a CLI in the last 7 or 8 months or whatever it was well that was on the IT card and 5 or 6 months on the miles card.
Oh yes are you referring to Del Frisco's at gulch? ![]()
I closed a US Bank Fred Meyer card a few months ago, made room for the Altitude Reserve. That’s a decent card, net $75 AF for some Priority Passes and GoGo in-flight Wi-Fi. The mobile wallet points work well with my spending habits.
Closed my Citi Hilton card for the same reasons as you. The default upgrade for my Surpass AMEX looks interesting.
I am am not able to convince myself to close any others yet. I guess Alaska Airlines might be expendable, but I may just downgrade that to the $50 AF version, as the $50 spend credit is easier to use than the companion fare. But then again, it includes flights to Hawaii. It’s like that with each of my cards that remain. Always something keeping it interesting.
Waiting now for late Dec or January, to get CSP. Was considering CSR, but have enough lounge access ( Diners, Altitude, soon Hilton ) and even the travel credit might be a challenge to recover.
