I'm going to Huntsville for a few days this month and am wondering if there is anything I can do while I'm there to become eligible for Redstone FCU membership. Can I join an organization? Become a member of zoo or museum? Anything?

I was under the impression that anyone could join (maybe ACC membership needed) but that to get their Visa Signature card (which I'm assuming is what you're really asking about) now you have to live in the couple or so states they have a physical footprint in.

anybody can join for free through a free AUSA membership and you don't need to apply in person to join
you can't get the visa signature unless you reside in AL/TN though

No promises but I have read some success stories of people being able to get geo-fenced CCs by applying in-branch. Not RedStone specifically, other CUs, but you can give it a whirl? Get membership now, and then attempt to apply for the CC in person when you are there?
There was a rumor that they might start allowing outside of AL/TN again if it's requested enough.
Since they changed the rules literally the day I joined them, I'm waiting in the wings.

@unsungivy Interesting tidbit, then there's still hope. I closed my checking but held onto the Brighter Day savings account because it's still getting 5% apy (on up to $2500). Was thinking about closing shop with them altogether, but will hold on that for the time being.
