Regarding AMEX Referrals

For the AMEX referrals when public SUBs are increased for a limited time (no targeted or email offers) do the referrals match that public SUB or do they stay static and not change?

Just as an example: BCE referral is $200 SUB for $1k spend which is currently better than the generic $100-$150 SUB on their website. If, for some reason, AMEX made a public offering of $300 SUB for $2k spend would the referral reflect that new temporary offer or would it stay the same regardless. I hope I'm making sense here. Re: Regarding AMEX Referrals

With Amex, you will receive exactly what is stated on the page you use to access the application.  Some people have had luck getting a better offer matched, but I would never count on it.  It's about 50/50 on the public vs referral offers being better.

Well, if that the cast this got interesting. Deciding on having some people wait for a better offer that might never come on card that might get the axe or nagging the current one and getting some referrals out of it while I can.

Re: Regarding AMEX Referrals

For both of my Amex cards. They changed once, about a similar time to the public SUB changing. Haven’t had the cards all that long 3-4 months.

If you look at the referral link when logged in. It will tell you what referral SUB the person will get.

Re: Regarding AMEX Referrals

I know a few months ago when the Delta cards had elevated bonus offers, the referral offer went up as well. In fact, the high offers (60k Gold/70k Plat) were available via referral long after the public offer went away.

That said, the referral offers on many of my other Amex cards is the same or not as good as the usual incognito public offer. Right now I’m seeing:

PRG 25K/$2K
BCE $200/$1K
EDP 20K/$1K
Hilton Ascend 100K/$3K
Delta Gold 40K+$50/$1K

For PRG that is the standard public offer. It takes very little effort to find a 50K/$2K offer for that card.

For BCE that is the current elevated offer available via incognito. Standard public offer is $150/$1K.

For EDP that is slightly more than the standard public offer but less than the higher incognito offer (30K/$2K) which comes up often enough to be worth a wait.

Same goes for the Delta Gold. Supposedly there’s still 50K offers around now for that one.

For Hilton Ascend that is the standard public offer. The card is very new, though, and we haven’t seen any variations in bonus offers for that card yet.

When I had my Hilton Surpass the referral offer was 80K while there was an easily acccesible 100K offer out there (and for a while also a 125K offer) which made the referral link pointless.

So yeah it’s kinda hard to get credit for referrals without trying to sell a blatantly inferior offer, which I refuse to do. I always tell people, if you can get a better offer by all means don’t use my link. In many cases getting a better offer is not very hard.

EDIT: I should add that NONE of these referral offers were the same as the offers I got when I signed up for each respective card, and haven't been since the time I got them.  The one exception is when I got the Delta Gold, I got the 60K+$50/$3K offer, and I also had a referral link for the same offer.  When the referral link expired at the end of the month, though, the referral offer went down to 40K+$50/$1K.  The other referral offers have been pretty much unchanged since I got them (and less than the offer I got).
