Reminder about future BOA secured graduations

It's going to come up again eventually, most of the people who get the BOA secured will probably try to PC to the cash rewards or travel rewards or some other no fee card.

I myself have a graduated BOA card.

From an online chat with a Credit Rep-

BOA: I see the last conversion of the product change was performed on 6/30/12, so if you wish then we can submit your request if you wish to have the card to change to another product.
You: so i would be eligible if i were to change today? I won't today since i'm getting close to redemption and don't want to lose that.
BOA: I understand, yes for the product change you can submit the request anytime now.
You: ok thanks
BOA: You are welcome.
You: also is my card eligible to be product changed into a lower fee card?
You: or higher fee for that matter
BOA: Yahcomb, the conversion of the card does not effect the fees structure as it is decided by the credit specialist upon approval.
You: ok. I think that covers everything
You: Thanks you for your help

This is the stance you are going to get from pretty much all BOA reps. If you call them, you are going to need to talk to a supervisor most likely to have anything done about the annual fee in the future. Most likely they will only agree to a waiver, but not a true removal. You may get lucky eventually and find someone lenient to plead your case to who might actually change your account fee to zero, removing the need for a yearly call to get it waived. But expect to counter resistance, because to BOA this is kidnda considered a violation of the terms of your account.

Re: Reminder about future BOA secured graduations

Just want to add this is apparently a pretty standard BoA policy for all PCs, not just those from the Secured.

e.g. When I did a PC from Platinum Plus to Cash Rewards, my new card reports in my online banking as a Platinum Plus Cash Rewards and retains the interest rate of my old Platinum Plus, just with the rewards package added.

Basically, it seems like their product changes are not truly changes, more like modifications where you keep most of your original terms but only certain terms of the card get migrated.

Re: Reminder about future BOA secured graduations

well, looks like i might have found one of the lenient reps because as of today my account fee says ZERO.
