I just looked into it and I can't believe I never knew this. I had no idea you could use bilt without being a card holder.

I'm reading on TPG, and it says that you actually need the Bilt card if your landlord isn't in the Bilt network.  So I'm not sure now what the actual rules are for non-cardholders.

You might also want to check out Melio.

Re: Rent related question

I have no idea if there in the bilt network. It asked me for my address, asked me how I usually pay, I said I pay through a portal. And it gave me the option for a temp acct and routing number. So, as far as my property management company is concerned, they are getting paid with a acct and routing ACH payment. In any case, next rent payment I'm going to try and see if it works.

I did try looking up a third party service very similar to melio but a lot of people say they gave them the money, and the rent check never arrived.

So if I'm going to use a service I would prefer one that gives a temporary debit card number or account and routing number like BILT does. which shouldn't be too difficult, in this day and age temporary card numbers good for 1 purchase are very common. I'm pretty sure that's how Apple Pay operates.

Re: Rent related question

I just did a test payment of $100 and my property management company accepted the payment.

going forward I just change the amount from $100 to $1600, authorize the payment. Then I'm good.

Re: Rent related question

Keep in mind that currently, AMEX is 1 Bilt point/$2 spend, while all other card types 1 Bilt point/$1 spend until I think July 21st when Bilt points are all at the current AMEX rate.
