My Discover card is starting to get wore down from swiping, it sometimes has to be swiped a few times to be read. I was carious if my credit score or FICO score would be affected at all by receiving a new card on the same account?
Does anything change? Account age due to a new credit card resetting? SP/HP? Is there ANY damages I should be aware of if I order a new one due to it being wore down?
I want to be extra safe as I can NOT afford any more pulls on my history right now.. Or have my history of accounts be reset etc. I am trying to rebuild my FICO and CK score.
I request new cards all the time
they send me the same numbers unless its fraud related
absolutely no impact on credit report
Are you asking about getting just a physical replacement on the It card in your signature? If so, you can just do that on the website and ask to get a new card sent. It'll be the same exact card except on the back bottom left corner, you'll see a different number sequence (e.g. A002 instead of the A001 on your original card). You can request as may cards as you want I think. It shouldn't affect your score at all. It's just having an extra card. You can go to the card management page when you're logged in and freeze whichever cards you aren't using. I have three Discover cards (Spruce, Copper, and Chip & PIN OG) that I switch around just for giggles.
None at all. Just tell them you need a replacement card. There won't be any mention of it anywhere except internally at Discover.

Good. Thanks everyone. It is something I really needed to double check on.
In fact I think I'm gonna get a new Amex Blue Sky right now just cause I want the chip and my old one is scratched up and not pretty anymore. It's bad for the environment, but good for me.

I have to get a Discover because yours looks like an old mix tape I used to have in the 80's with all my rad music on it.
Amex's options for my replacement card are so awesome:
