I am about to, I am just nervous they will ask things I don't know. I'm not too familiar with certain terms. Hopefully they just ask about income, and that's all! I do know my CL right now is $2000 and I owe $1800 which I pay the amount the day I get the bill, so way before it's due.
I had the same thing happen to me with a CLI from Lowe's. I called eventually and the reason was an income documentation request because of the amount requested. I faxed in the docs and they raised the limit.
My husband got that message with his Best Buy Visa. They asked him last 4 of social and address. Asked him why he wanted the increase put him on hold for a while came back and approved him for less then what he requested. He accepted but it was nothing to be nervous about.

I have never done anything with credit over the phone before and feel like they will talk me out of increasing. I just want my utilization to go down just a little. Right now it is at 40ish %. Anyone have any tips before I call them?
Impossible to give you tips as we don't know what they need to discuss. Don't be afraid. If you want the CLI then call. It could be that they need to verify something. Chase had to contact me about a recent app and they just wanted to verify my address. Maybe they will grill you, maybe they won't but you won't find out and your CLI request will not be processed unless you call. The worst case is a denial but that isn't the end of the world.
They only approved me for $1000 more, which kind of sucks but it's a start. The lady was quite rude though.

Sorry you didn't get what you wanted but at least it was approved...Congrats! So tell us, what did they need to speak with you about?
She asked why I wanted the increase and why I do not pay over a certain amount each month. My minimum payment is $60 but I pay $70, and $40 of that is interest. She was sort of rude saying I need to pay $120 a month, but I told her I was completely fine with the $70 and I manage all of my bills very well. She kept telling me I needed to pay more, so I continued to tell her that I've got this. lol

I don't get why does she care lol? The bank ( Citi) is A) making money off you and B) you're paying on time.
My thoughts exactly. It took a lot in me to not tell her to mind her own business lol But I was wanting to increase so I was polite.
