This was sad news for me when I heard it. I was planning on getting the card this fall. My question for you guys if you can help is:
What card should I be targeting to get instead? I was interested in the card for the folllwing:
SUB of 2-3 nights at ritz
Visa infinite discount portal for flights
Hotel status
Obv all of the travel credits and benefits with all premium high AF cards
And the sweet heavy metal card design (I know I know :-) )
I’m fine with the high AF for the right benefits.
Thanks for any recommendations!
SPG Luxury should give you 125k Marriott Points. That should be good enough to stay at most Ritz Carlton's for two nights. Gives you 300 dollars in Marriott Travel Credit. Don't know if it will be metal. Ritz was the heaviest card in existence. Sad for that reason.
No problem at all. There won't be a new high-end Chase card replacing it. Like I said, SPG Luxury (coming out on the 23rd) should tick every box you had except for the Visa Infinite discount. All of the Visa Infinite cards I can think of: JP Morgan Ritz-Carlton (not available for new apps), JP Morgan Reserve (pretty sure that is still invite-only), Chase Sapphire Reserve (not eligible for $100 airline discount), UBS Visa Infinite, Suntrust Private Wealth, and I just recently learned about the City National Bank one (US arm of Royal Bank of Canada) that is quite tempting.

Add the US Bank Altitude Reserve to your list of Visa Infinite cards available in the US.
The JP Morgan card is still invite only, still requires a minimum of $10 million in assets managed by Chase Private Bank to even be considered.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Altitude Reserve. Like CSR, that one also doesn't qualify for the Visa Infinite airline discount, right?

dont believe so and a sl of 5k only required for it. Crytal bank is probably the only other card with the infinite airlien discount although sure i am missing another one or two
According to Doctor of Credit these are the ones for sure with the airline discount.

I saw an article this morning that mentioned a new card design was coming after August 26th. Is this only for existing card holders since apps have been suspended, or are they going to open it back up for new applicants? I like my current card but am interested to see if they do change it up..
@Anonymous what's wrong with the "heavy metal" design on the previous page?
I've seen the 26th listed as the date when all of the big changes are coming to card, but nothing on the card itself. If there's a new design, I think it will be subtle and likely just add wording or logos to the rear of the card regarding the other hotel brands. I sincerely believe that applications for this card will not be coming back and this is part of an eventual phase-out entirely of high-end Marriott cards handled by Chase.
