5.25% interest in cash account pays for the RH gold monthly fee. I've joined the waitlist and will be the data point everyone wants to see!!!

Right, but as has been pointed out, you can get that rate elsewhere with no fees. Also, it won't be at that rate forever. For me the real potential for "cancelling" out the monthly/yearly Gold subscription fee is the IRA match. Assuming you want an IRA with RH, this match (3% for now) is money you wouldn't get without the Gold fee subscription. And, if I read it correctly, you get this 3% not just on contributions but on IRA money you rollover into RH. 3% on tens of thousands can be thousands of dollars. Again, only if I read that correctly. Anyway, looking forward to your review @trant3 ! Thanks for going first!
If I didn't already have Platinum Honors with BoA, I'd be tempted, but...
it looks like the Gold version of the card is only for the first 5,000 applicants who also successfully refer 10 people to the Gold tier of membership.
This makes me think there will be a SUB at some point.
If it's still available in it's current iteration in a bit, it'll probably make it onto my shortlist since I already have a Gold account with a small balance.

Consider opening a brokerage account and buying money market treasuries funds. Both Fidelity and Goldman are currently at a 4.95% yield. The difference is it's paid as a qualified dividend rather than interest income. So, if you meet the holding requirements it's taxed at the capital gains rate rather than the income rate. For most people, the after tax income will be higher than with a 5.25% HYS.
This is not tax advice. This is not financial advice.
The card is worth over $1000.
Just pay 10 people $50 each to cover their first year.
LOL.
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!

But it is good advice!

Ouch, I didn't see that. Where did you see that? This changes everything and is too big (too small?) of a hoop for me to jump through for this card.

Not at all clear you could liquidate it for anything like $1000! But you have given yourself some space there...

I saw that too, but I interpreted it as a limited edition version of the physical card itself, not different specs/rewards.

I like that theory.
