I have a 250 limit secured card with SDFCU. Well I opened it with that amount with plans to increase it. I want to add 500 to the CL. So I called them today about it. She said I would have to reapply for the card. I can't just add to my deposit and call to ask for a increase. Anyone have any experience with this card?
was it a HP to open your secured card ???
When I increased my limit on my secured card, I contacted the lending department and they sent me an application with the new amount on it. All I had to do was sign it via DocuSign and make sure that the funds that I wanted my limit to increase by was in my savings account. It was really quick and easy.
Starting Score: CH7 BK 02/25/13 -- EQ474 EX538 TU503 06/03/13I see that this is about a month late, but my experience was similar to that of SexyDoll. I have a savings account with SDFCU. I added money to the savings account, called the loan number and asked for an increase. The (very nice) woman on the phone said that I would have to do a new application, which she filled out. She just asked if all the info was the same, which it was. She put me on hold a few times, but the entire process took less than 5 minutes. She told me that she would email me new forms to sign and that the approval process would take 24-48 hours. After I hung up, the forms were already in my inbox. I signed them right away and returned them. It does seem to me, based on her "approval process" comment, that the aproval was not guaranteed, as it was when I first got the card. Perhaps this is based on the payment record with the card. In any event, it may not be as easy as adding money to your savings account, but I believe that the process is pretty easy overall, particularly compared to other secured cards. Let's not forget that SDFCU also has a 6.9% interest rate for secured cards and no annual fee, as well as the EMV chip. Personally, I really like the card, better even than my US Bank card, which has had really bad customer service, but that's another story.
That makes zero sense they would need to HP to add funds to a secured card.

I don't think they even do an HP to open the card, IIRC, so I don't think this is actually an HP or a new TL.
It's not as long as you call or email them, and don't do it online. If you apply online for the secured card or a share secure loan, it'll be an automatic HP on EX by the computer.
If you call or email them, no pull at all - and it's a pretty quick/easy process to increase the limit.
