Yeah I have a car charger, I guess I should invest in hulk hands to get the tree and power lines off of my car next time too.

LOL! HULK SMASH! I wouldn't worry about losing credit on a card you don't really ever use. You may be able to speak to a supervisor there to see if they can reinstate your limit due to the unforseen circumstances. If not, just pay it off and be done with it. Get rid of your CreditOne Credit card as soon as you can and just work on rebuilding. If you hang out in these forums, I guarantee in 6 months you can see a dramatic increase in your credit score and limits.

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

Power lines (LIVE WIRES)  and tree ON my car, in my yard and all across town. No, there was no way I was leaving my children home alone to walk to I have no idea where to pay the bill nor was I dragging them out in it when the firefighter said people shouldn't be leaving home. That is risking my life, that is risking my children's lives and I'm shocked that anyone would suggest that. It's irrelevant and of course I'm going to get snippy. I don't need to prove that it was risky, it would be stupid in every way to worry about paying the bill when I had more important things to worry about.

I do agree with happypill that 15 Synchrony cards is a lot, and Synchrony is known to be very sensitive.

It may be worth closing a few of those cards in order to stay a bit low on the radar screen.

The likelyhood of them slashing or closing the 15 other cards is iminent.

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

Sorry Op about your current state. Glad you and the family are ok. Sometimes things happen we cant control and you're right, a late payment happens and it really isnt the end of the world or credit. I normally associate Credit Solutions more on getting cli than fixing credit concerns but of course i may be wrong. I would rhink the best number to call would be on the back of your Gap card.

Synchrony has become a very sensitive beast to tame this past year. I know that having a couple cards with them can sometimes be problematic, not always though. I myself have a few. But 15 with the same bank has the earmarking that if something goes wrong with 1 card, it tends to shift focas on whole profile. Now, i come from very modest means, lets just say im at the bottom of the totem pole lol, but $490 bucks is alot for me. But if your 1 card has that balanced and is maxed but you have over 50k in credit limits with little or few balances, overall, shouldnt be that bad. Just try to pay it down fastest way you can . Who know maybe theyll reinstate the limit. Id not judt close it and move on. Any details you can provide on tour scores etc. Perhaps we can give some more helpful tips on bettering your credit. Im still learning myself but even though getting big limits on Sync retail accounts can sometimes be taken with a grain of salt, i do know that overall they wont just give out 5k plus limits on every card if you are not doing something righr. Many times cli is related to your fico score and i judt cant see someone with a below 620 getting multiple 5k limits.

I know sometimes we only want direct answers when posting questions but on this great forum i find 95% of the time, people rally want to help you, there will always be a bad egg or two, but given time. We get rid of thoseSmiley Wink. Ita not easy but just remember the positives, you're ok, you did get the late fee waived, and you still have those other 15 cards. Sync can always send out the blue envelope so i always try to keep my Sync balances low for that very same reason. Perhaps try using youre other bank cards and with time they increae your limits. Remember the one thing we can control( besides mother nature of course) is always try to pay on time. This alone will help your credit get better. Stay well and please try to take our advice with good intentions. Great day AVJ

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

I have too many inquiries on my reports, I've tried getting preapproved and even straight up applying for a personal loan, always declined. Borrowing isn't an option and neither is getting a second job, my husband works 60 hours a week as it is and I can't work, we have one car, and childcare would be a fortune making it pointless.

I posted about personal loans or balance transfer cards that would likely approve me and no one commented on that post so I assumed that there was no option. I have a lot of inquiries but my bills are always paid on time but I guess the banks that give the loans are more concerned about the silly things like inquiries rather than what I would think would be more important which is on time payments and not maxing out every card I have. A few are maxed but it's difficult not to when the limits are so incredibly small. Like the infamous Target card, I only have a $300 limit on that, so I can't even buy that much there, I have to pay if off several times just to be able to utilize the 5% savings, which if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have even bothered. They haven't given a single credit limit increase despite the great and multiple payment history. Seems I'm stuck in a vicious circle... Oh well I guess.

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

I tried to get my limit back up, it was declined, apparently the card updated on all of the credit reports and is already showing that my limit has been reduced which made my usage go up and now my credit scores have decreased and I'm showing high utilization. It's already hurting me. Really ruining my life because we were on track to buy our first home this summer and now this hit will probably ruin the chances and I can't buy a house unless it's during the summer because I'm not moving the kids mid school year and we're looking to move out of the area.

Definitely already planning on getting rid of the CreditOne it was just because it was a preapproved card and helped build my scores up. Not interested in paying that annual fee so closing it before that comes due for sure.

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

Jesi, i couldnt care less about credit at a time like that nor should you. Must have been scary, truely feel for you there. But now that it has past, time to say hey, ok you got me Stnc but ill have the last laugh. You wanna cld me, ok ...pay pay,pay...0 balance, ok id like to close please. Just like that. Pick the cards you really use and relesse the rest, try to use your cards for what you know you can pay off at the end of the month and make your asssult plan on the credit world. I truely believe if you follow the advice on these dorum whether rebuilding or just maintening ones credit, when those scary things happen we have a better shot at dealing with them. Best of luck againSmiley Happy

Long story short I missed a payment on my Synchrony Gap card. My balance is $471 and I missed a payment of $25 on March 8th due to a horrible wind storm a tree fell in my yard and knocked my power out for 6 days. I couldn't move my car for 3 and the closest Gap is over an hour away. There was nothing that could be done. I got a late fee, no big deal. I also noticed that my credit line 8 days later, on March 16th, was lowered to $490. That's not even a number that makes any sense and I KNOW it's because of the account being late. The thing that's aggravating is now my credit score has now decreased quite a bit because my card is now nearly maxed out. They are literally ruining my credit at this point. I called to find out why it was decreased and all they did was remove the late fee, which I wasn't even trying to do. The letter that says why my credit was decreased is vague and all of the reasons were already there when I got the Gap card almost a year ago. "Delinquent account" which is my car loan that was late over 2 years ago, etc. Nothing is new or different, just one late fee, and I've never been late before. I'm disgusted and appalled at this point how I can be treated like a criminal and have my credit ruined over a payment that was only a week late, which wasn't my fault to begin with.

I tried calling credit solutions, I just keep getting bounced around and even getting some of the same representatives and they all say "there's nothing we can do" and that the account was not decreased due to the late payment. If that was the case my 15 other Synchrony cards that all have $5,000 and higher limits would have also been decreased. It's VERY obvious why this was decreased and it would have been lowered to some more even like $500, not $490, that was their way of making my account not over the limit but decreased enough to give me no available credit. I would honestly close the account but I don't have $500 to pay it off today, I also don't want to close it with such a tiny credit limit, but it's ruining my credit now and I was trying to buy a house this summer. I'm sick to my stomach and trying not to vomit because I'm so upset about this. My usage has now also gone WAY up due to the card showing as being basically maxed out. Is there anyone else I can call, I don't know a ton about contacting anyone other than customer service or credit solutions and they all tell me there's no one I can call and nothing anyone can do. I just don't believe that to be true.

I realize your irritated right now. And I know this isn't what you want to hear.

Why wait until the due date to pay your bill?

I don't get why people pay the bill on the due date. Your the example why you shouldn't. Who knows what will happen.

Does it make sense to pay your bill several days before your due date?

You must pay your bills on time, regardless of the reasons or things like this will happen..

PAY SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE YOUR DUE DATE!!!!

And please stop being rude to people. You came on here and asked for advice. Take what advice you like and don't use what you don't like. Lets not turn this into Romper-Room.

Re: SEVERE credit limit decrease HELP

I actually got more help from Credit Solutions than the regular Gap customer services as far as what happened and all that, in the end no did anything but Gap customer services wouldn't even speak to me until I "received the letter" that said why it was decreased. Credit Solutions read it to me over the phone so at least I was able to hear the made up reasons.

Also the 15 cards aren't all in my name, some are mine, some are my husbands, we are authorized users on some of each other's accounts and 15 is probably exaggerated, just the point that I have a lot of their cards and have been a good customer and hardly ever carry a balance with them so it's just kind of ridiculous.

Blue envelope?
