Wonder how it was possible for the system to update like that even though the credit analysts don't work on Sunday. Now I kinda want to recon but I'm afraid that maybe the credit analysts are just gonna do the same thing. Should I try recon multiple times until I get someone to actually approve the app?
Try reconning !
Alright. I hope they don't do any additional pulls. I'm just not sure what I should say to them to really convince them to overturn the decision and it's not because I have too many inquiries either (that was the thing I took care of).

Sorry to hear about the denial. I've heard that Barclays is good with recons, so good luck!

I've posted multiple times, but when I got denied for my arrival card I called twice for recon, first rep told me why i was denied, and I hung up, the next day i called I asked is there any possible way for me to get the card, she told me the solution and I agreed, and now i'm waiting for the card arrive in the mail ![]()

May I ask what they told you was the "solution?"

it was because I applied and got their rewards card last month, so when I applied for arrival card, they said i need to show them "good payment history", and one month worth paid in full isn't going to cut it, and when I told the second rep that I would really like the arrival card and if there's anyway I could get it, she told me that I could close rewards card then she'll go ahead and approve the arrival card for me.
I wanted arrival card more than rewards card anyway, so I told her to go ahead and close the card. even though this card cost me total of 2 hp (my fault for not waiting 6 months), the rewards card had 24.99% apr, but the arrival's got 18.99% apr. ![]()

I see. I've never really tried recon more than once in most cases cause I really thought all analysts for Barclays would be the same or have similar policies. Main thing probably holding me back are new accounts and relatively short credit history and stuff like that. By October though, a bunch of them will turn 6 months so maybe it might be easier to try after October and see what happens.

I was gonna try only once, but I read on forum that few people tried more few times and got the approval, so I thought 'i already got a ding on my credit report anyways, what have i got to lose by asking?', I'll tell you this though, when I called the second time which was the day after the first call, she knew I called before. the first thing she said after pulling my application was "my colleague already spoke to you regarding your application yesterday". So if you decide to call more than once, don't pretend like its your first time calling ![]()

Alright. Glad I know this ahead of time. I wonder if Barclays's other cards have less strict approval requirements. Some people have gotten denied for one card from them and were still able to get something else.
Barclay's rewards card got two tiers, one for excellent credit and one for average/good credit (that's the one hits you with 24.99% apr), so I'd say rewards card is the easiest one to get out of all of their other cards.

I'll look into that but not sure if they would use the same pull if I just went for that and then maybe PC into the Sallie Mae or apply for it when I have more history with them. I'm gonna wait on the recon first and go from there.
