Same CC Acount appearing twice on report - fix or keep as is?

I notice I have a few accounts that appear twice on my credit report...both are in good standing, older accounts (5 years +) with zero balances.   The duplicates report that way as well.

since I'm a little concerned about the number of open accounts I have (if that hurts my score) -- I've been toying with informing the CRA's they have duplicates.  If I do this, and they take it off... does that actually help or Hurt me?

I wonder if taking it off would suddenly 'reage' and make me look younger (hehe... usually a good thing!).   Since I just recently went on an app spree... I know I'm already going to hurt for a little bit in that area, but is worth it with much higher Credit Limits.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

I think that I would tiptoe quietly away! I can't see any way in which this would be hurting you.

My son had a similar situation with two Citi cards reporting when he only had one, both the same opening date. He finally called and had them combine the CL's, but he did have a small drop in average age. (He's 24 and has a thin file anyway.)

If I had a 4 year average age... and then added 4 cards... what does that do?

My oldest is 18 years.

We'd have to know every single account, open and closed, on your account and the year and month that each was opened... Smiley Tongue

In other words, if you only had four or so accounts, four new ones would make the average plummet. If you had thirty, another four wouldn't make that much of a difference. It would still drop some, though.
