Sapphire Advice!

Application is still pending, I called and asked if I could be considered for the preferred instead of the regular one, the rep told me I would have to reapply or do a pc in the future. My question is would it make sense to reapply for the preferred? or just wait and hopefully do a pc when I do get the card,  (have a feeling I will get approved Smiley Happy

Re: Sapphire Advice!

When you called, did you ask the CSR about PC'ing the card? Like, how long you have to have the account? Others have mentioned 13 mos, on your previous post.

Re: Sapphire Advice!

she just said in the future, didn't give me a specific time frame. Someone else said 13 months but then someone disagree. ughhhh. I guess those 40,000 bonus points are getting to me

Personally, I would reapply, unless that 40,000 point offer goes bye-bye! If the sign-up bonus goes away, then PCing would be the better option!

Re: Sapphire Advice!

Wasn't there a thread on this already?

You can apply for the sapphire preferred right away. Another user on the forums did that.

Or you can wait >12 months to do a product change, since chase rarely does any pc within first 12 months.

Or, get it changed if possible before they make a decision

Re: Sapphire Advice!

You can apply for it right away. I did. I accidentally applied for the regular sapphire and when I got the card, I called in and the CSR said I'd have to reapply. I did and was approved.

Re: Sapphire Advice!

You can't PC in the first 13 months because thats the law, not Chases policy... thank congress for that (not getting political Smiley Very Happy)

the law states they can't raise the AF on any card for the first year, in essence PCing would be raising the AF (even if they waive it) weird i know!

Re: Sapphire Advice!

Thanks @enharu. Great memory.

Yeah the card act prevents product changes that would incur an annual fee but if you had apped for the CSP first and wanted the CS, you could. I just did that with the AMEX BCP to the BCE. I realized I don't spend enough in groceries to justify the annual fee but I love AMEX backdating!
