So many of you know about the lucrative AT&T promos, like the "Spend $65, get $50 back" offers that show up on Chase and Citi cards.
This time, one popped up on my US Bank Cash+ card: spend $100 and get $75 back. I went ahead and prepaid $100 on my AT&T account.
The catch (or rather the bonus) was that it happened to be some kind of double cash back day or promotion. I logged into my account today and was surprised to see I actually got $150 back on a $100 prepayment! 😲 So now I have a $150 credit balance on my account, plus I still earned the 5% cash back from the cell phone category.
I don't think you can beat that! 😂 It definitely made my day, especially after having to shell out money lately for the not-so-fun stuff like shop vacs and other unexpected expenses. Nice when something actually goes your way for a change.
I think ATT has to have the most lucrative offers on spend with card issuers. If you get lucky you can basically only pay a few months of cell phone service a year if you have the right card mix and get the offers! Have had many on Chase, Citi cards, PNC and now US Bank!
If you don't pay off the entire monthly bill this way, does it still trigger the $10/line autopay discount when using a checking account?

I believe so although never really do that but read that. Sure google or a quick search wil tell you that.
CC, is this one of those offers that says it's for new customers only, but it just so happens to work with existing customers?
Any way, great score!

@ptatohed Hey. Yep exactly what it is for new customers but works for existing customers and has always worked as apparently they have no simple API check with ATT to check if they are a new or an existing customer. Anyways yes a pretty big win as I see it as getting up to level of a sign-up bonus for. just a normal bill I was going to pay with this exact card anyways.
Thanks for sharing! can you help me with these questions:
1. how did you pay? was it on the app or att.com/fastpay?
2. if on the app, did you use apple pay or manually input credit card info?
3. Do you have wireless service only?
Thank you!

I have auto pay setup to debit from my checking account to get the discount and then just go in a couple days before the date of withdraw and pay it with a CC and still get the discount but also can get the CC rewards. Been doing this for a couple of years now with no issue.

Whoo-hoo! And that's how it's done! ![]()
It's been a few years since I used one of these, but they are definitely lucrative for AT&T customers. I got this offer (and similar on Citi cards) to trigger multiple times on AT&T landline payments as well. I also got it to work by reloading an AT&T Prepaid account in-store at the payment kiosk (unless something has changed, online web/app prepaid reloads are through a different vendor and won't work).
I have a spend $65/get $50 back on four (!) Citi cards right now. If I knew the payment kiosk still would trigger the offer I would make the hour drive to an AT&T store (corporate, not authorized retailer) and renew my account for another year (I'm on the $300 annual plan).
If I lived closer to a corporate store (my local store is AR, not corp) I could test it out with a single $65 reload before going all-in, but it's not the greatest drive from where I am and I'm not willing to make the journey for a 'maybe'.
(I'm unable to find recent positive datapoints for the kiosk, although I suspect the failures might be at non-corp stores.)

Ya they are lucrative. Have it on 3 of my Citi cards atm.. forgot how long for credit to hit hoping soon granted this was on Cash+ card. Once I make sure it hits on AA citi card will do another 2 66 dollars or whatever on my custom cash cards for another 100 in free money. Have had on Citi, Chase and BofA and US bank cards and PNC. They add up ![]()
