Re: Sears Mastercard CLI

I've had card MC version over 14 months......HARD PULL.  When I called and asked she said it depends, but most of the time a hard pull.

Re: Sears Mastercard CLI

Thanks for the responses, guys. It's actually my oldest card as well, so I hope they don't close it! The 5 SYW points for gas aren't bad either (although I usually get gas at Costco). I wouldn't mind if they changed the card to a TY earning card though, since I've been denied by Citi the last 4 times I tried to get in with them....

My card is being converted. A few months ago for first time ever I got an sp cli on my store card. In Hope's for another cli before my new card arrives this week, hopefully, I tried again and weirdly they actually tried to pull TU days after saying pending. Weird experience. Now having the actual MC, I'm not sure but it's always recommended to expect a hp and be happy when its sp

In looking ahead it is only time and the death of Sears will be here (surprised they have gasped for air for so long ... thought they would die back when Montgomery Wards went up in smoke). What are you going to do with the Sears MasterCard?

I an guessing that Citi will look to either convert all the MC, or cherrypick the MC holders they want to keep, in their portfolio and convert them to TY Preferrred cards.  Everyone else will get their cards closed.

Typically, Citi may add certain features to some of their retail branded V/MC cards, but they will not fold them into legacy products such as DC/TYP, ect., so I'm not sure where the source of this information is coming from.  In the past, any Citi retail V/MC branded products that were retired or discontinued were either closed or no longer available for new apps - example, Exxon/Mobil MC and Home Depot MC (non-biz/non-project version).

Send an SM requesting to convert your awards program from SYW to TYP.

Sears has been running targeted 10 bonus TYP/$ quarterly promos for almost the last 2 years if you can meet the specified monthly spend on groceries+gas+restaurants, so it may be worth your while to look into it.

There is no "source", it's speculative "I am guessing...".  The Sears card as a retail card is a one-off as some holders earn TYP points.

Re: Sears Mastercard CLI

I’ve heard about asking for TYP instead of SYW points, but doesn’t the earn rate drop to 1% regardless of the category?
