I've had my shell credit ard for a year and a few months and i really don't need it and i just looked and it shows a $25 annual fee which is ridiculous so I want to close it, will this affect my credit very much or no?

If your util can handle the loss of the CL, close it.

Re: Shell CC close?

Do it. I closed mine 3 months ago, also after noticing the $25 AF on my ststement. With 5% cards, gas cards have become obsolete.

Some can qualify for a gas card when they can't qualify for a card with rewards on gas.

Re: Shell CC close?

Yes very true, my Discover IT and BofA Cash rewards both get 2% back on gas.

Re: Shell CC close?

What?  Shell has a $25 AF on a gas card?  (Make mental note to never apply for a Shell Card!)

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Re: Shell CC close?

So, I have a question, is your card issued by Citi?  I just read the terms and conditions for both the Drive for 5 and the Shell Platinum Select card and I don't see an AF for either of them.  Do you have an old agreement?  If so you could probably recon the AF.
