I have a quick question about the product change to the Venture card: did you call or do it online? When you do the product change, does it backdate the new card with the age history of the original card? I have had my Cap1 rebuilder card for nearly a year now with great payment history and various CLI's. Do you think that I would be a good candidate for a product change with Cap1 soon (score around 720)?
Thanks!
OP did not technically receive 'PC'-- it was a 'targeted upgrade' offer from one prime cap1 product to another.
Cap1 no longer does PC and has never offered upgrades from rebuilder to prime cards, that requires a new app and typically 3 HP
I was getting offers in the mail to open a new account and keep the original Platnium card. I did not want another card if for no other reason than not wanting 3 hits on my credit report. So since I turned down several mailed offers, I received an email stating that I can just upgrade my current card, so i did that instead. The account # did not change, all they did was send me a Venture card, with the same # and so I destroyed the Platinum card. If you go to the website and click "Modify Your Features" you will see if you are eligible for an upgrade

Thanks, PlasticGuy - I'll give that a shot!
Update: Just checked and there are no current upgrade offers. I will plan on checking again before my next annual fee is assessed. My scores should be higher then as well (util is <5% and two baddies fell off). Would love a Venture card.

I'm not plasticman but just in case you missed the post: cap1 will not issue an upgrade to a prime Venture card from a rubuilder card no matter what a card holders credit profile or scores look like. YMMV.
we'll see. OP indicated they had the Platinum Cap1 (as I do) and they upgraded to Venture. There have been other reports of Cap1 cardholders upgrading so I would not say that your statement is completely true. I will give it a shot later. MMMV, as you say.

OP reportedly had a prime No Hassle rewards card with an 11.6k CL and was offered a targeted upgrade to another prime product if am not mistaken.
It has been discussed in great detail both here and elsewhere and I have not seen a single instance of a low limit cap1 card upgrading to a prime product, YMMV .
Hopefully they'll change gears at some point to allow more growth potential to us low limit cap1 card holders but after 10 years with one I am not holding out too much hope on that one...in any case, they did offer an upgrade to have rewards on my current low limit card, better than nothing, GL!
