My Sears card Mastercard got converted to A "Shop you Way" Mastercard. I've been using it because Citibank had been offering 20% statement credits offers.
I had $230 in shop your way points and just used some but have $160 left
Do you think Citibank will change these into something else if Sears/Kmart go bust?
Would you just burn the points? Today, i went to the last Kmart within 100 miles and it was already in clearance apparently since February. Most of the stuff is still expensive even in clearance. It's not good value but I guess I might as well spend it.
I guess there a chance Citibank would convert the points to something else.
Thoughts? Use them up or hope Citibank converts then to something else if company liquidates? There also one Sears nearby to use the points.
Personally, I would just use the credit before the stores officially close.

Thanks. I'm going to go look at Sears tomorrow. Then I'll go back to Kmart. I guess paying for overpriced stuff is better than getting no value.

Probably a Good Idea! .. I did not even know Kmart was still alive. All of the stores around here closed years ago.

Yeah there are still a few. Somewhere between 150-200 Sears/K-marts combined IIRC.
Best to burn through SYW points the best way one can as quickly as one can IMO.

Strange I converted from SYW to Citi TY points and use the points on Amazon.com.

Lots of reports of people starting somewhere in the last half of 2019 that requests were being rejected because that particular conversion was no longer being permitted.
I'm glad I went to Sears as there was a lot better value to be had there than the Kmart. Today was the last day to redeem at Sears. The mall was set to close tonight. It felt like a Twilight Zone episode. There were two guys shopping briefly but other than that I was alone in the store. There were few workers so I just went to fitting room myself. It was a sharp contrast to the craziness at Sam's Club which I had stopped by earlier.
I got two pairs of dress shoes and I found two dress pants that were on clearance for $13.49. I spent $146 on two dress pants and two dress shoes.
I had $5 left as rewards but I'm still gonna get more when I finish out the last $40 of this cashbacks promo for March.
I'm glad I made this post as it pushed me to go use the rewards before it was possibly too late .
Congrats on being able to pretty much leverage all of the points to end up with stuff you find useful.
I think I got an email several months ago that seemed to imply that Shop Your Way was now it's own entity and held it's own data (my data), but still very much related and perhaps unique to Sears and KMart. See https://transformco.com/
I'd use any points soon. The current slowdown may not be good for Sears and it's relatives.
