You don't need SCT's with your scores. Massage your FICO's a little more and you'll be prime before you know it!

+1!  See recent threads about people bemoaning the SCT cards they got.   They drag down your AAoA and tend to be small CLs   Sometimes it is worth taking an inq.

I've never been able to get any SCT offers but I can definitely say that getting too many low limit store cards is the last thing anyone wants to do if they wanna get their FICOs up. Made that mistake back in April when I was still pretty new to building my credit and really reading this website and it just made it more of a pain to get my foot in the door with the likes of Chase and Barclays for a while. Also the majority of those store cards I ended up closing months later which included a Target card, a Fingerhut account, a Chevron card, and an Old Navy card. It was also when I finally started getting my first instant approvals so I was in that mindset for a while back then. Quality over quantity I'd say.

Re: Shopping Card Trick

The only card I use sporatically is Vic Sec b/c I can use that at Bath & BodyWorks.  the others....blah.

JCrew will grow with you pretty nicely, but they are overpriced (IMHO)

I do plan on using overstock and Target is good for the 5% but give crappy limits.  BLAH.

You really don't need these toy cards.

Re: Shopping Card Trick

The most ironic part about closing something like Fingerhut which I give credit for actually giving my first ever CLI is that after I closed that card, I ended up getting cards with limits that were bigger than that TL ever was with much much better rewards.
