Ok, so I posted the other day about how I have been eyeballing the Arrival card even though I have not wanted to get involved with Barclay because of all the negative things I read here. I decided to go for it since the Arrival offer is so good right now. I got an instant "under review" message. I called the backdoor number and was told the app was declined. The rep said he could not overturn it and that my credit report looks great but I have opened too many accounts in the past two years. I have only opened 4 in the last 12 months and 1 of those is not even showing up yet. I have no negatives and my score is around 760 on all of my reports. They pulled TU. I didn't even argue with him or try to get him to overturn their decision. He told me to reapply in a few months and I should be ok. I know that y'all always say to recon and that Barclay is pretty good with that but I think I will just leave it alone. I don't want a 500.00 card. I probably sound like a credit snob but I feel I have come a long way and I don't want to settle for a card that I don't want or a limit that is too low. This post is not to blast Barclay and I'm not mad or anything about the denial, I just know alot of people are eyeing their cards and maybe this information will help someone else make a decision. ![]()

So sorry about the denial. One of the reasons I will not app with Barclays is because they are way too sensitive with inquiries and other accounts. I see with you they go back 2 years...
! Too much aggravation with them. The best of luck to you.
Sorry for the denial, snowkitty.
Note to self (again): NOT to apply for Barclays.

What's your AAoA? How many of your cards were opened in the last 6 months?

Barlcay is one of those odd birds that almost don't like the prime borrower with huge CL's... they seem a bit like Discover sometimes.
They want middle of the road credit but someone that focuses on mostly using Barclay and not caring about opening up cards with other banks.
But I agree with the other poster, some people have really great success with Barclay and others do not... My partner quickly saw his card get a HUGE CLD after opneing and after balances on other cards started reporting... I mean I get it in a way... but...
Sorry for the denial.
I was approved with arrival last year after I had acquired 6 other accounts. The Barclays rep on the phone said, "I see you just opened 6 new accounts in the past 5 months." But she still approved me. YMMV. ![]()
