The annual fee difference doesn't bother me, and I don't wan't a Zync because the rewards aren't the same and it can't be upgraded. I am pre-selected on the website for both Green and Gold, yet have only recieved a mail offer for the Green. I definitely want the Gold, but don't want to be denied when i could have gotten the Green. My question is if there is a big difference between them, approval-wise. Here are my current EX stats, assuming they pull from there.
Approximate score 670-700
AAoA-5+ years
2 open credit cards with nearly 2 years perfect history
student loan with a transferred/sold status (it will report as open again starting next month, but I feel like not having the large balance reporting is better, even though it is an installment account???)
2 30 day lates from 6 years ago
1 paid CO for $443 from 2006 which I paid in December 2011
Should I app?
Green and gold have the same criteria. Do you travel any? If so, gold is slightly better. Unless you mean PR gold, which has the point multipliers.
I think you should go ahead and go for Gold. I really don't think there's any difference in approval criteria and I'd think you stand a good chance of approval.
There's no difference in approval criteria. Go for the Gold (or PR Gold) if that better suits you.
Yep, approval criteria is the same for both. Go with whichever suits your spending patterns/benefit needs better. Good luck!
right...the early access to event tickets is actually worth the extra $30 for me alone. Just wanted to get some solid feedback on weather the criteria is the same for each card...I have to assume that it is at least a little different for the PR Gold. Does anyone have a differing opinion that the other posters in that the criteria is the same?

Fwiw, I have the Green and am going to upgrade to the Gold very soon. The AF difference is only a few bucks.
ahh yeah for some reason i thought it was $175 not $125....
either way, theres pretty much no difference between Green and Gold so if you wanted to just get a card to use and have the general benefits of an AMEX then Green isnt a bad choice and will save you the most money.
I have Green and have no Gold envy. Seems like the extra couple bucks isnt much but if you arent getting much whats the point...?

Amex themselves say its the same. Green is there as a legacy card, adding to the 'prestige' of gold and plat. Early access is nice but is for big cities. Just something to be aware of if going solely for presales.
