What's is your current reported util? Baddies?

Amex Charge does not report a CL so I'm unclear as 'why not grab more limit before it does' means?

Current Reports are some variation of:

1 CO from early 2012.

2 bogus collections for 134$ in dispute now

3 open installments - 1 home equity, 1 boat loan, Student loans. All from 2002-2006, all good standing.

Store card from 2006 50% util on 2400 limit, never late.

the new wally card 0% on 5k limit.

around 20 closed positive installment or revolver accounts over the last 10 years.

The Green card: I want as an in with Amex, and the bonus sounds reasonable. The reason I didn't already app for it as you mentioned is the no reported limit. Eventual goal is SPG as I am already platinum with them, and the card would top me off nicely from a points perspective.

Additionally I wouldn't mind picking up something else before hitting the garden, i.e. chase freedom.

Re: Should I app again?

Regarding your scenarios:

1. Best advice, even if the AAOA is higher, IIRC correctly the Discover was maxed out.

2. Even though some lenders are 'known' to pull one CB , there is always a possibility of bring double or triple pulled

Options

1. No guarantee a denial will result in one additional hp

2. What other cc's are you interested in besides Amex for a CL?

Re: Should I app again?

The Discover was DW's, I was removed as AU - so it is not reporting except on TU.

Im open to other cards - just looking for what the community might recomend I try for. Really I am just looking for more stuff to garden. The only card on my 'list' is SPG, and I know thats not realistic right now.

Threads like this make me think I have a shot at freedom though (link deleted)

I think Young is right - if I can time it exacty to when the NFCU posts I might pull it off

Re: Should I app again?

If you are trying to group inq's/accts so that they age together, there's nothing wrong with that IMO. If Amex is the card you want, it would be best to app after your CR's update. If you want to lock in a 2013 MSD app in December.

Possible cc's :

1. Chase can be more conservative than Amex but they do have a good recon dept for those baddies

2. I would say Barclays but they are a TU puller.

3. Cap 1, will pull all 3

4. Citi does not really have a recon

5. BoA may not like the baddies either

Re: Should I app again?

No love from chase prequal yet. Guess I will wait for the NFCU to report and play it by ear. Thanks for the help Lex - great list and just what I was looking for!

Re: Should I app again?

You are welcome. Keep in mind, the importance if quality over quantity. Keep checking the pre-qual sites after your reports update. Don't make the mistake of rushing into an app without making sure the card serves a benefit not just another TL.

Ok, simply put - success feels good and I want MORE!

I would suggest gardening -- especially if that's your main reason for applying again.  You've done fairly well considering and you'd probably be pushing it.  As stated above, go for quality not quantity.
