Should I ask for CLI?

I recently got a nice CLI from Cap 1 which I know is extremely hard. I didn't ask for this, so it must have come from their internal review process. My question is should I seek out a CLI from one of my other cards. I have a TD Bank card (formely Commerce Bank) which has a limit of $500 and has been that way since I opened it in 07. I asked them at one point for CLI and was denied since my other accounts had high balances. I've been paying down Cap 1 and TD, as well as Chase. I would think my recent payment history might work in my favor.

I don't want to try for a new card at the moment since I'm strapped trying to pay down 4 cards, I'd rather just get CLI from someone.

Re: Should I ask for CLI?

wow same CL since 07'... I would be looking for a CLI or I wouldn't see much point in this card since it doesn't appear to be growing.

Re: Should I ask for CLI?

Yeah, it was my second card after Cap 1. So at the time I understood the low CL, but they haven't increased it at all since then. I don't think I've ever been late with them but I know I've had the card at a very high limit in the past. But since August I start consistently paying down Cap 1, TD, and Chase. I have one closed account with Chase, that still has a high balance on it. But other than that and student loans, the rest are store cards. Best Buy, Macys (which reports differently, I think) and Gap. Had an Old Navy that was mysteriously closed, without my knowledge. I don't ever remember receiving a notice that they were closing the account, only found out it was closed when I tried to use it at the store.

The TD card is also a rewards card, used to be thru Visa Extras but now it's part of the Easy Rewards program from TD. I would think the recent payment history with these cards plus the CLI from Cap 1 one make me a good candidate for a CLI. As far as I know of I have no baddies, just had high utlis in the past.

Re: Should I ask for CLI?

No I haven't pulled any scores, probably in a year. I do them on a yearly basis. Any reccommendations for what I SHOULD pull?

it's either TU or EQ from this website.

maybe call TD and ask if they do a hard pull for CLI, if so find out which one they pull, and you go and pull that one to make sure everything looks good and correct and then call back to TD and let them pull.

Re: Should I ask for CLI?

I can actually do that. I'm pretty sure TD does a hard pull, but they did inherit the card/account from Commerce when they bought them out. That's who the card was originally through. The rewards program isn't great, it's a 1point for every dollar spent and since the card was so high for so long, I've barely earned any points.

Eventually I'd like to app for an Amex or a Citi, something with a more universal rewards program. But right now, I think it would be unwise, since my Chase account (the open one) is still so high.
