Last night I called the number on the back of my cash rewards visa signature card for an apr reduction and i was put on hold for 28 minutes, and then i hung up and called the customer satisfaction department that i had gotten from one of their letters they sent me in the past and got someone a few seconds after it rang and told the guy what was going on and he appologized and noted how their rolling out a new automated system.
He took a look at my account and said everything looks good and he transfered me to a specalist and ensured me it would be put right to them with out a 28 minute hold time and surely enough he was right he connected me with a nice lady who after i told her what was going on and that i wanted an apr reduction she was able to take my rate of 16.99% down to 13.99% I was shocked i had to ask her again! I gladly accepted and thanked her and we chatted for a bit about different things.
I'm glad in the end i had a possitive outcome once again!
13.99% is my lowest rate now! aside from my pnc auto loan i was recently approved for of a rate under 3%

He said the Cash Rewards card is one of their higher APR cards and is meant to be used like a debit card, just charged for rewards and paid off. Seemed to hint that if I PIF for while, it could be lowered. (Currently it's 17.25, converted to a Cash Rewards from a Worldpoints, opened in 2009 when my credit wasn't as good.) My plan has actually been to pay off the remaining $500 and then essentially sock drawer it though
That is really nonsense as BofA lowered both my travel rewards and cash rewards to 9,99% and these two cards are my lowest APR cards. I guess it is a YMMV thing and it all depends on who you get on the phone.
How long did you have the cards before you asked for apr reduction? I just got my BOA Better Balance Rewards, and with a 765 FICO they gave me 18.99% apr, which seemed kinda rediculous. Then again, the $4,500 limit is rather low as well. What good is a 765 these days anyways...
@I just got my BBR during an app spree and was denied at first, reconed the card and was approved at a $1000 limit @ 18.99% APR - they pulled a 704 Fico. To their defense, I did have a bit of new inquiries within 6 months. On the other hand, I'm shocked we received the same APR when your scores are much higher.
Actually I never wanted a Cash Rewards, I just got an offer to PC from the useless Worldpoints Visa. So I did. But now that I know about the Better Balance Rewards, I think I'll PC over to that. And I might recon again about the APR - that guy was clearly hallucinating if he thought it was supposed to be a "debit card."

Cash Rewards since 2011 ...but these lenders are YMMV as Chase gave me 22,99% with same profile .. for me BofA = top regular APR, Cap1 = best BT offers and Chase = absolute worst terms with 22,99% APR and lowest limit. This all with the same profile
