Should I combine my Citi Cards?

I am thinking, if I should ask Citi to combine my two new cards into one card? Do you think it is a good idea? Also how is Citi with CLI at Activation?

Re: Should I combine my Citi Cards?

combining is a good way to build mega cl's, but the decision should be based on if it's better for your uses to combine.

citi wouldn't cli me at activation, but since have a long history maybe.

Re: Should I combine my Citi Cards?

I do pif every month. So less cards I have less clutter and less things to worry about. If they combine I'll get one card with 12+5=17K in CL. I'll call them tomorrow and ask them for both CLI and Combining the cards. Let us see what they say.

Re: Should I combine my Citi Cards?

I just combined my two Citi accounts. For me, it came down to just having less to manage. The rep I spoke with was very nice, and it only took a few minutes over the phone. It was also updated the next day online.

Re: Should I combine my Citi Cards?

I spoke to Citi today too. About a product change from Diamond Preferred to one of the AAdvantage cards. No problem at all doing that....still thinking about it.

And the CSR I spoke was very nice too. Took a lot of time explaining things to me.

If you do change to an AAdvantage card, make certain that it's one that report credit lines.

Re: Should I combine my Citi Cards?

Concord, Citi doesn't do CLIs at activation. They told me it was a mandatory 6 months for everyone before CLI.

I received and activated citibank diamond pref'd card 12/15/07. I called 4/8 and requested a CLI; was told the same, must wait 6 months. I logged into my account on 4/26 to make payment and was surprised to see a $2400 CLI. I called to find out what happened (nervous some kind of mistake had been made) and was told it was an auto CLI (which equals no inquiry). The rep asked if I had requested a CLI? I said yes, but was told I had to wait. He said, well it seems they decided to give it to you. I thanked him and quickly hung up. Still thinking to myself it was an error, but as it was to my benefit, who cares! Smiley Very HappyIf you are at your 4 month mark call and ask, let them tell you no, and wait a few weeks.

Upon activating both my Chase & BOA cards ( 3/08) I felt it wouldn't hurt to request CLI's, I was told the following -
  1. Chase - wait 3-4 months and call back to request a CLI;
  2. BOA - wait 6 months and call back to request a CLI. I will hit that love button at 4 Smiley Wink
