I am really interested in the BoA UPromise rewards card but have some history I'm not sure of...
-I had a CO of an MBNA account from 2003 (just before it was sold to BoA so they were the ones on my CRs) which has since fallen off all CRs.
-I've had 2 checking and 1 savings accounts with BoA for ~6 years, direct deposit for my paycheck and my savings has a cushion in it.
-I also have 3 student loans from the past few years through BoA that are in deferment while I'm in school.
-My EX is 694 and TU is 702, UTI is about 8%
-Only baddies on my CRs are 3- 90 day lates from student loans in 2004 (which will fall off in Jul) and 2 - 30 day lates from 9/06 and 10/04
-I have gotten 3 new CCs in the past 1 1/2 years a Barclay, AmEx, and Citi (most recent about 4 months ago)
-I have 2 INQ on EX and 2 on TU
I'm mostly concerned about whether or not I may be blacklisted at BoA from my MBNA mishap 8 years ago.
Should I even try and waste an INQ?
Thanks!
Kristen
BOA doesn't blacklist. I had an account with them during my college years that went bad and still was able to get a new account with them. At the time when I applied for a new card with BOA, I was still cleaning up my credit reports and received a CL of $5000. I think you have a good chance.
What is the rush? I would recommend waiting until the 90 day lates fall off and one of the 30days late to fall off and you will be in better shape. I think then you would be in stronger shape. So, maybe you should consider gardening until 2012. Good luck.

We're living in an 'I want it now" time. 2012 is too far away.
Hi Kristen, I received an offer from BOA, applied and was denied. My score was 735. I had 2 public records. They said they denied me because of the 2 pr's and not enough references.

What other credit card accounts do you have?
I'm not in a major rush.
I am looking to the future though and plan on getting rid of my Orchard Bank card this June if (and when...I know it will happen) they refuse to get rid of the annual fee. And may get rid of my Cap1 if they don't get rid of the AF (though they just gave me a CLI of over $3K so I'm now debating what to do with it). I've been using UPromise to make a dent in my student loans while they're in deferment and would love this card to dig away even more. Plus I'd like the opportunity to get into BoA good graces so when I'm ready to possibly look for a mortgage in a few years, I already have a nice, established history with them.
I'm mostly just putting my feelers out and won't jump on this until a few of those lates fall off anyways.

Hi vish1, I have 2 Cap 1 accounts. 1 for 12 yrs. and 1 for 6 mo.
"-I also have 3 student loans from the past few years through BoA that are in deferment while I'm in school."
That might not be the best. They like to see employed applicants.

People can be employed and in school... I am, and I have a $3,500 limit on my BofA Card.
