Should I try for a recon?

I applied for an Amazon Visa with Chase last week and received a denial letter over the weekend. The only reason for the denial was past delinquency. The last time I was ever late on an account was over 4 years ago. I'm just a little nervous to try for a recon because I have tried in the past with no luck. Has anyone had success with a chase recon and this reason for denial?

Re: Should I try for a recon?

No reason to be nervous.  Worst thing they can say is no.

Re: Should I try for a recon?

Chase analysts sound undertanding and nice, won't bite. Even if they try to, science not yet found a way to bite on phone...

In the worst case they will give you some good advice.

good luck for your recon.

Re: Should I try for a recon?

LOL! It's true that Chase analysts don't bit. I bit the bullet and tried for the recon. IT WORKED!!! I was approved for $3,000!!! It's my highest limit ever as I am a rebuilder. Thanks for the words of encouragement because I was too chicken to call in the first place.

Congrats. I know what you mean, yes it can be a bit embarrassing/painful at times to hear a NO live or people asking questions about things you want to forget.

Re: Should I try for a recon?

It is quit embarrassing! Like I said I have tried two other recons in the past with a no go. That feeling of rejection is no fun! This time I was just blatantly honest about my past credit mistakes and the few inquires I have and bam...you've been approved! I'm so grateful for all of the myfico members. All of you have such useful information! Before this site I had no idea you could even ask for a denial to be reconsidered.

Re: Should I try for a recon?

I also joined this site this year (actually much later than you), and I seriously wish I knew more when I went on a app spree last year trying to apply barclays, chase, citi etc etc with just 1 month of credit history. If I knew about this forum, I would have avoided atleast 10 inquires (in total on all 3 CB).
