Re: Should I try these CC apps and CLIs?

Welcome to the forum. Cap1 does three HPs for every new app. Inquiries stay on your report for two years. After one year it doesn't effect your credit score. At 6 months they start to have less effect for "some" credit card companies. In my honest opinion applying for that many more new cards so soon is looking for disaster.  Not just from denials but from your current credit cards. I encourage you to do sp CLI  and garden. Whatever you decide good luck.

If you continue to be good, you'll be able to get the QuickSilver no problem. But, wait a while on that.

For the Chase Sapphire Preferred, if you don't have a CL over $5,000, don't waste an inquiry.

There's too many recent inquires, and then there's flat out too many inquiries. Barclaycard is known to be a bit inquiry sensitive.

Next year is relative: Do you mean 2015, or this year 2014?

You'll have to do a bit of research, but, even though no FTF is ideal, the FTF rate can still be a pretty good deal.

Re: Should I try these CC apps and CLIs?

thanks for the advice coldnmn and titanofold!

I'll certainly give up on the CSP. I might try to PC my Barclaycard Rewards to Barclaycard World at 6-month, though that's probably tough due to my current low CL of $1000. But it should not result in HP so. For Quicksilver I'm a little hesitant because on CapOne's website it defines "Excellent Credit" as having 3 years of credit history, which I don't have, which is why i might gun for Journey Student, since that one only requires Fair Credit.

I'll be overseas in August 2014 till late 2015... so not that much time to garden i guess. i'll definitely work on those CLIs in the meantime.

Am I correct to say that Discover, BoA, AMEX have SP, while Citi, Chase and Barclaycard have HP for CLIs?

I can tell you that if you're eligible for a SP, Citi is pretty good about growing over time. Based on things I've read on here, in order from SP to HP likliness, I would say Amex (100% SP?) > Discover > BoA > Citi > Barclay > Chase (99% HP?).

Of course, I've seen SP CLI's from Chase posted on here and HP's (or Discover wanting to HP) for CLI, so YMMV.

Don't be so sure that Barclay wont be a HP. I was denied my Ring and called in to recon and they did another hp. They don't have to tell you on a new app as you agree to the terms. I'm not sure about product change be sure to ask.

Re: Should I try these CC apps and CLIs?

Looking at your signature, your AmEx is over $5,000, which would satisfy a requirement of the CSP.

Cap1 says that on their Web site, but that doesn't make it hard and fast. Afterall, if you wait 6 months, you'll have the 3 years of credit history. (You're Citi Forward should be reporting everything.)

So, I would wait until your oldest account is at 3 years, then apply for the CSP and the Cap1, and don't do anything else that would result in a HP. Barclaycard may close your account because of too many inquiries in a short time.
